Me? I personally believe that in shooting the guy, they did, in fact, commit an illegal act. Now, whether the law as it relates to cops is different than if this was you and I, or whether the prosecutor chooses not to file charges because it's cops is a different matter entirely.

But....

I would assume that at some point the homeowner asked who it was that was knocking....agree?

I would also assume that, had the cops then identified themselves, that the spokesman for the PD would have mentioned that they identified themselves....agree?

I'd certainly ask who was at the door. I can't imagine he didn't. I'm also guessing he didn't expect a bunch of cops to be pointing guns at him or he wouldn't be pointing a gun at them.

No. I've not changed opinions. In this case, the police were the aggressors, and acting in an unsafe manner that put lives at risk... and guess what? A life got taken.

I know you're referring to the Trayvon Martin case even though you're trying to be clever... but that's a completely different case.

Anyone knocking on a door at 1:30 AM without identifying themselves should always expect to be greeted by an armed person.

Ah so its completely safe to go following a guy on the street you expect is up to no good with a loaded gun in your jacket because that would not put lives at risk in any way shape or form...got it....nothing unsafe about that at all. Why? they were looking for people who had assaulted someone and felt they needed to be quiet...they had some reasonable doubt.

So you would not expect the cops....to open fire at someone who opens a door with a gun pointed at them? When he asked who is it...which of course we all assumed he did and while we were also assuming they just stood at the door silent with a shark head saying flowers....did we ever find out if anything they did was against the law?

So, you really don't see a difference between the following:

1. Guy walking down the street with his concealed weapon safely in it's holster out of site, and...

2. A bunch of guys outside a door with guns drawn ready to shoot anyone who answers if they look like a threat, who also neglect to mention the fact that they are cops to the person inside...

You really see no difference in risk and aggression?
