A Rumor's been floating around..

A deal with the Redskins, heard on ESPN radio.
A straight up trade, Ty Law for the Skins #5 pick.

I checked out the skins newsgroup and extremskins, and they're talking about it. I'd do it in a New York Minute. Remeber what I said a while back, you will be amazed..

BTW, there's an MXC Marathon today, and the new season starts tonight at 10. I hear Tatum Bell is one of the contestants.

Get rid of Law now, so we can sign some players that want to help the Pats play the game of FOOTBALL. Like John Lynch. I don't care if he fits from a need perspective, his ATTITUDE does.

"Like I said, he is not destined to be a Patriot. I keep getting the mesage "he swims with the fishes." I will tell you he is destined to play with Miami. I get a feeling someone else is going too. He poisoned the team.
Be amazed at what the Patriots get in return."

In my opinion, that would be a no-brainer. Draft Sean Taylor and move Wilson to corner. Loads of cap space created and the defense keeps getting younger, faster and meaner.

I would love it if this trade got done, but If I am the Skins I would
not do it. Law is a 30 year old corner (albeit a real good one), he has a huge salary cap figure for the next two years, and his ego is a little out of control at the moment. If I were the Skins I'd draft Hall out of Va Tech, Taylor or even Winslow before I would give up the fifth pick in the draft for a 30 year old (expensive) corner.

I dunno about that - It seems to me as if the Skins are primed to win NOW (as in this year or next) and Law would be a better fit in that scenario.

If they were building for the FUTURE on the other hand.....

Don't forget, the 'Skins can renegotiate Law's contract more easily than the Pats can. The Pats have to absorb the remaining signing bonus. If the 'Skins want to, they can tear up Law's current contract without having to worry about carrying the remaining bonus.

And Anni is correct, everything the 'Skins are doing right now is designed to win in the next few years. With the contracts they've given out over the last two years, they'll be in salary cap hell in about 2-3 years. At that time, they'll have to implode the team.

Sounds like a dumb trade by the Redskins, but I don't think they are the brightest bulb..........

On the other hand, I could definitely see the Skins trading their 2005 first rounder, and maybe a 2004 2nd rounder, pre-2004 draft. Then, the Pats could move up if they want.

Remember the struggle just to get the Bills to trade a 2003 first-rounder for Bledsoe in April 2002?

If the Pats pull off the rumored trade, that would be icing on the cake.

I've got to agree with this. Even if the Skins are thinking win now, Taylor is slated as an instant all pro! Why would you take Law with all his baggage and age over a guy who can have an impact on your team for a decade? Of course we are talking about the Skins here.;)

Sure Ty, sure you are.

And make no mistake about it, those are TY LAW'S words not Poston's. That attitude is PURE Ty Law. He and Lawyer were cut from the exact same mold. He has always equated "Respect" with "Money."

Respect isn't about money TY, not from where I'm sitting. Guys like this make it so easy for teams to part with them. They show no loyalty or strength of character that makes a team respect them and want to keep them in the first place. They just don't get it. I give Law days at the most.

I'm being told to expect hours.. He's not destined to be a Patriot. He'll be feeling what his friend feels. I'm being told he will be on the left coast, San Diego? He swims with the fishes..
