What's Your Favorite Football Play?
When the Pats finished off the Iggles, Gil Santos referred to Tom kneeling on the ball as his favorite play.
Let's ignore the walk off element. Any walk off -- FG, six points of any kind -- is the ultimate, of course. So putting aside the game winning aspect, what's your favorite play in football? A poll will come along shortly, so patience, you hear? |

Corey Dillon over the right side against the Colts in the 20-3 game
Brady BURNS Polamalu with a play action and throws the ball about 60 yards to Branch |

No drop kick extra point???
The bomb. The double lateral bomb (Brady-Moss-Brady) torching Smith of the Squealers was one of my favorite plays ever. |

Flea flicker. You never expect it, and it seems to go for a 70 yard TD 90% of the time.

Snot bubble sack is best, snot bubble RB stuff up the middle is second best. Extra points for fumble on the play.

Establish a tits running game. Say, behind a CKCMFD. Make the D honor and respect the run. And then start mixing in the QB Waggle TE drag. PA left and then have the QB boot around right (gotta snap his head around when he pulls the fake back to make sure there's no backside pressure) and roll out. Running with him is the TE from the far side about 7-10 deep and the deep post is simultaneously being run.
When this works, it can work over and over and over again (see: Griese-to-Tuman, 1997 Michigan) and it destroys a team. It's almost like a glitch play in Madden. Beautiful. I love the TE as the #1 option. |

I'm going to use my response to mull over which is my favorite and why.
Eliminate the taking the knee because while it's a fave because it means a fershure "W"...it isn't the most EXCITING which I believe your poll choices indicate as an element that needs to be present (barring the "choose your own" option). Also, I eliminate any non TD play because to me it's about scoring for MOST exciting in most situations. Then I eliminate all offensive plays because those happen more often so they don't have the excitement due to rarity factor. So I am left with KR td, PR td, sack/fumble TD, and pick six. My favorite plays are the ones that utterly remove the wind from the sails of the other team and all those have the element of that. It's hard for me to say which one of those I love THE most, but thinking in most situations that the KR td would be the most deflating to the other team. They just scored either 3 or 7 and the VERY NEXT PLAY....they basically lose that score completely or they are -4. Next would be either defensive td, again the momentum factor. Last is the PR td. |

Least favorite is the reverse. It just doesn't seem to work anymore, which is probably why we never see it.

On D...definitely a pick six. Couldn't find a decent YouTube of Asante's against the Colts or Ty Law in the Bowl, but a pick six is JIMPtastic.
This could've been a good video but they missed the best part. |
