i give up on politics

I can't do this politics thing anymore. I've been into it for only about 2 years now and I feel burnt out. I've changed politial affiliation probaly 3 or 4 times.

'government is evil!'

'government can help people if it's used correctly'

'do i really care if some rich guy is taxed more than me?'

'not everyone is entitled to health care'

'would you really deny a dieing person the right treatment because you didnt want to pay a little extra taxes?'

'illegal immigrants broke the law to get here and should be treated as criminals!'

'they're just humans like you and I trying to do whats best for themselves and thier family, can you fault someone for that?'

In the end, will it matter how much in taxes we paid? Or how the world percieves our country?

These are all the things that go through my head and I maybe I'm leaning more liberal lately because I just feel like 'fvck it, we're all gonna die one day anyway might as well make life as easy as possible until we do'

I've just gotten to the point where I feel its so useless even talking about this stuff. I feel like no matter how much things change, when it comes to politics, it all just stays the same, only the people are different. Its not like I've been following this stuff that long either but I still get that impression, you guys have more experience than me so, is it true?

This isn't to say 'why do you guys even bother discussing this stuff?' It's just me trying to express my frustration with all of it.

I've gone from conservative to liberal to libertarian to just plain apathetic at this point. Anyone else ever feel like this?

Never give up. We must always care. Politics isn't the only avenue to change things or shouldn't be. It's just that the govt is getting more in the way than ever.

You're young. It's easy to give up with so much bad news. But I assure you there are those working to change it even if you don't see it on the news.

It is! Nothing on this forum will change the direction of this country one iota.

If one finds it fun and interesting, then do it. If not, there are many better things to do to whittle away the hours, I'm sure.

If it helps you to sort stuff out in your head, it helps. If not, it's just if it's fun or at least interesting or not.

You should try to be informed enough to vote accordingly, I suppose, but you'll probably just end up hating whoever is elected, even if you voted for him. Politics of demonization, plus the media loves bad news.

I think it's interesting, and a better diversion than, say, Halo, in terms of personal development.

You actually want change? Take up arms.

This is true.

However, when you consider that there are forum discussions like this going on all the time, across the nation...thousands of them every day....then these discussions do matter, in a larger sense...if not our little pond here.

There is no black and white despite what all the pundits and operatives tell you.

interesting....but I know many who have no concern for politics and just let it flow...they expect the ones that votes to be informed to make sure everything runs smoothly

It goes well beyond party. I would say no organized group can represent your views fully, hell, even a group as simple as a sewing circle or book club.
