What is up with Dick Vermeil
It just seems to me that a man that is as emotional as Dick (Squeeeel) I mean Vermeil, Should not be on TV anymore.
I just know if he keeps it up my whole family will be sitting there crying with him. And we dont even like the Chiefs. Come on this is FOOTBALL not the missing person league. And if anyone saw the HD game of the Chiefs and Colts they saw a undecisive whinner all over the place...I know I heard him say more than twice. "you know better than I" why is this man coaching. Motivation? "Ok Team If we dont win we are all going to cry for ten minutes in the locker room....then we will shower and cry before we leave." |

You're right. The crying bit is getting old. He's a great guy and a great coach, but I have 3 kids under the age of 12 that cry less than Vermeil. Give it a rest Dick.

Crying is natural in certain situations for anyone. Not every situation.

I admit Vermeil is pretty quick on the crying scale but at least he releases the weight on his shoulders and moves on.
He was probably whistling "Hi Ho, Hi Ho, It's off to work we go" walking back to his office. |

I find it absolutely hilarious every time he starts the waterworks.
I mean I hold my sides laughing. There is nothing wrong with a man crying once in a while but this guy has crossed the line into self-parody. Its almost too bad the Chefs got knocked out or we would be seeing a SNL sketch on Vermeil for sure. A little article on boohoo boy. Vermeil cries a river; Kansas City flooded By Jim Margalus Sunday, November 16th, 2003 KANSAS CITY, Mo. (sPERTS.net) -- Dick Vermeil lost his chance for an undefeated season, but thousands of Kansas City residents have lost a lot more. The Missouri River rushed over the flood basins after the emotional Chiefs coach broke down following the Chiefs' 24-19 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals. The loss was the Chiefs' first of the season. Citizens create a sandbag levee to prevent the flood from advancing The river crested to 42 feet as of Sunday night following hours of constant Vermeil crying. The river conditions qualify as a flood when the river exceeds 32 feet above its average level. "It's times like these when you have to put sports in perspective," said Darryl Milnes, a Kansas City resident. "I mean, they're still going to win the AFC West. The Bengals are a good team, the Chiefs were on the road...this kind of thing happens." An inconsolable Vermeil addressed reporters after the game, many of whom wore rain slickers or ponchos. "To all my players, Chiefs fans, my family and friends and God, I'm sorry," Vermeil said through sobs. "If only I had done my job and prepared them, if only I had not given my players the bye week off, if only I had woken up 30 minutes earlier, we would have won that game." Vermeil performs his routine breakdown during the postgame press conference Chiefs players, however, took the loss in stride. "It's not a big deal," quarterback Trent Green commented. "We could've won this game, but we didn't execute. We didn't expect to be perfect this year, and we certainly weren't today. We'll get back on track next week." Vermeil would have none of it. "Football is a game that I love, and it has given so much to me. Every single time I lose, it's a disservice to the league, and the country," Vermeil said while attempting to calm down. "When I don't perform my best, I don't only fail myself and my team," Vermeil blurted as another round of tears built up, "but all the people, dead and alive, who have never set foot on a football field." Water rushed from his tear ducts as he rested his head on his arms. "Don't let the children see this." Vermeil nearly drowned St. Louis with an outburst. Vermeil is known throughout football as a man who does not restrain his feelings, win or lose, dating back to his coaching debut with the Philadelphia Eagles in 1976. Although this may be the most severe hydrological event Vermeil has caused, it is not the first. In 1981, the Delaware River exceeded two levees after the Eagles won the NFC Championship en route to an appearance in Super Bowl XV, which they lost 27-10 to the Oakland Raiders. After winning the championship in 2000 with the Rams, Vermeil burst at the celebration rally in downtown St. Louis, causing the Mississippi River levels to threaten the Hartford Public Water supply. The Missouri National Guard is working around the clock, creating sandbag levees in order to protect the areas not yet touched by flood waters. Thousands of residents will be asked to evacuate throughout the week. The decision on whether to declare Kansas City a state of emergency will be made in the next two days. "Luckily, we were prepared for this sort of thing," Pfc. Nelson Levitt said. "We learned how to limit the damage through experience with the Great Vermeil of 2000. Had we not, Kansas City might be under a salty sea of tears." City workers load trucks with crates of tissue for Vermeil. Kimberly-Clark Worldwide, Inc. is helping the cause by donating crates of Kleenex to the Vermeil residence. Eli Lilly and Co., maker of Prozac, and the Barnum and Bailey Circus are also volunteering their efforts to stop the emotional outpour. "We are grateful for the support we are receiving from all over the country," Kay Barnes, the mayor of Kansas City, stated. "As long as everybody pitches in, we can beat this flood." "However, should our Chiefs lose to Oakland, we'll see you next week." |
