Out of market opinion

Debate is raging in Jacksonville over an article that came out that quoted Wayne Weaver on the prospects of drafting Tim Tebow and how it would help support of the team if he did so. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=4478730

What I want to know is, what is the feeling of football fans in another part of the country as to the question of if Tebow can be a top QB in the NFL.

Do you guys think he can be successful at the next level?

What would you consider successful? Playoffs every year or a few SB wins in there as well? I could care less if he is the best stat wise. As long as we are consistently in the playoffs.

I think he's a tremendous athlete, and he's a smart football player. That said, I don't t think he's cut out to be an NFL QB. He'd be a poor man's Mike Vick. If that's even possible.

I don't know that any team in the league would do that. I would get your QB killed. However who knows if we are in the position to get him that means we had a high draft choice. Which would in turn probably mean new coaching staff. Hopefully Cowher.

My guess is he's a good choice in the 2nd/3rd round. If you spend a 1st rounder on him, shame on you, kid's got potential but would have to be viewed as a project at best.

I don't think you want to spend a 1st on a wildcat qb. He's not rated high enough to use a 1st as a drop back and how many plays is a wildcat qb really going to play a game.

Tebow won't be a Wildcat QB, IMO. I don't think that's his niche. I think he has the accuracy for the NFL, but I doubt his arm strength, and his mechanics are awkward. Working with Scot Loeffler this year will definitely help get him pro-ready. I don't like him, but I think Tebow has the intangibles to succeed in the NFL. I would take him in the 2nd round and give him a shot at QB.

Immediately, I think that drafting Tebow would help with ticket sales. That said, I don't think that he will be good enough to lead the Jags to the playoffs with the talent they currently have on the roster.

Who would Timmy throw too? Do you really think Holt will be around next year? Can Williamson live up to his hype? Too many question marks IMO on offense. The O-line really needs to be improved as wel otherwise he's gonna get killed back there... I wonder how Garrard is taking this?

I think the best option would be to take him in the late 2nd to high 3rd round if possible, let him sit for a year and develop his mechinics as MD pointed out aren't all that impressive. No doubt he's a tremendous athlete but are the Jags willing to take another gamble on a tremendous athlete (Matt Jones) who may not have starting NFL calibur talent for their position?

Thats all he has ever played; as Dave said he has good accuracy but no arm. If you think "peddington" has a weak arm you should watch TT

As a feller that lives in Orlando, I can tell ya, the jags aint long for Jacksonville....they are the 3rd NFL team in the state. Jaxs is a middle to lower middle class area..unemployment is through the roof, and they have 3 other NFL teams they can support (Bucs, Dolphins, and my beloved Falcons)...they have already tarpedof over 10K seats, and they still cant sellout.
Tebow is a desperate play...Now, as Pats fans I know yall wont judge him. If anybody understands a smart, dedicated guy can overcome the NFL "experts" it's y'all...Brady weighed 98lbs, ran the 40 in 6 minutes, but is a champion/mvp.

That said, as New Englanders (if thats a word), y'all dont have any choice but to root for the Pats..You guys make money, love your team, and put your $$ where your mouth is....

Its a different world in NE Florida.

The Jags will move...its just a matter of time...That said, these folks down here love Tebow like baby jesus...its their only hope....IF...IF he can turn into a Matt Ryan..err, I mean Tom Brady, he could save the franchise....but I doubt it.
