Party all night, and wake up with a hangover
So I'm watching all of the hooplah over Obama's victory right now. The "pundits" are all talking about history and transformation, and all that. The Obamaniacs are crying, wearing "yes we can" t-shirts, and waiting for the messiah to bestow his presence upon them. There is a lot of weepy stuff happening right now. Jesse Jackson is crying...

I'm thinking about this, and wondering what happens when the lights go out, the podiums get taken away, the slogans and stump speeches are all gone. What happens when this man sits down in the oval office and actually has to run this country? It's not historic anymore after that, it's all meat and potatoes from here on out. I'm hopeful that he can handle, but I'm fearful that he cannot. I fear for the future of this country, and the capitalistic structure that has made us the world's super power that we are today.

Congrats to all of the Obama supporters. Your guy won, and it's his mess to deal with now. I just hope you were all right, and that I am very wrong. We'll find out soon.

Yeah I hope he can clean up the mess that was left for him. I think he can, so does the majority.

The way I see it, things will get better for a while as the pendulum swings from one extreme to the other, getting good as it nears the middle, then going right back downhill as it reaches the other apex.

While I agree with most of what you said Tap, the one I disagree with is your statement; it's his mess to deal with now.

In reality, it is just not his mess, it is ours. It always has been ours. We have the power to choose our leaders who will make a difference, it is just that we do not truly get involved in the process. We have a tendency to believe the glitz and gab and not scratch beneath the surface.

We also have a tendency not to get involved locally, yet we bitch and moan about the ways things are done while doing nothing ourselves.

Obama is not the end all for this country. No man or woman is or ever will be. It has to be a collective effort.
