Why winning today matters
I want the Pats to win today because I want them to win every game that they play.
I want the Pats to win today because I want them to clinch the top seed in the AFC for the playoffs. I want the Pats to win today because an undefeated season would be pretty cool. I want the Pats to win today because I hate Eric Mangini as much as I hate the New York Yankees. Or almost as much. I want the Pats to win today because a Jets win would give the Jets players their 2007 Super Bowl win. I want the Pats to win today because I want them to win a game in terrible weather and thereby lower the noise on the "Pats can't win in bad weather because they have a weak running game" babble. But, as much as anything, I want the Pats to win today because Jets fans would be soooooooooooooo excited with a Jets win. It would make them so outrageously happy. And the Jets are the fan base that can never win, in my book. I don't want the Jets fans to ever get the Red Sox 2004 moment. I don't feel that way about the Cubs fans, for example. If and when the Sox get eliminated from the playoffs before the WS, next, I truly want the Cubs to win and for their fans to taste success. Not the Jets fans. I want them to be miserable for life. And I want them to be be miserable today. So, Patriots players, please win today. |

That’s why I’m here.” |
