Ummmm... hellllllllo. None of you should be surprised by this. WNY journalists quote stuff off of bb.com message board all the time, and THIS place is already recogniZed as the best Patriots forum available.

There is a running joke between two of us who are old regulars at bb.com.... we have had stuff we've posted LITERALLY lifted off the web site and not been given credit.

There is even one national journalist who has stolen a term I used regularly on bb.com and ran with it, and one WNY media person who I spar with and he suddenly his "column" addresses the issues we have PMd about.

Tip of the hat to the Herald for doing what is right... give credit where credit is due to an author.

The sports media FREQUENTLY uses message boards as places to garner ideas for their columns.

At patsfans.com it was an understood fact that many in the media read our posts.

There was actually a situation where one of the members of the boston media closely affiliated with the Patriots org signed up and was posting incognito amongst us (as four different users).

He divulged some 'inside info' that he could/wouldn't leak as his 'real self' about Chad Jackson. Then he got busted, called out and disappeared from the site.

It's long been rumored at patsfans that players/players family members frequent the board to get a feel for how the fans think.

Many times the media would do stories about topics that our threads were discussing a few days earlier.

Reiss actually started doing his 'stat check' after I'd been posting nearly identical stat write ups for the previous three weeks on Patsfans (his first one was a near carbon copy of one I'd posted only hours before, the only difference being that he corrected a single stat I'd posted incorrectly). Conspiracy theory? Maybe.

The media does watch. Of that you can be sure.
