Seahawks, Patriots Will Play in China

The New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks will face each other in a preseason game next August in Beijing exactly one year before the start of the Olympic Games in China.

"We had a tremendous amount of interest from our teams" in participating in the first NFL game in China, Commissioner Roger Goodell said yesterday before the Patriots' game against Denver.

The Patriots and Seahawks were chosen, he said, because of their success and "because we think they represent the best of the United States and the best of the NFL both on the field and off the field." The Patriots have won three of the last five Super Bowls. The Seahawks lost last season's Super Bowl.

The Aug. 8 game will be held at Workers Stadium at 8:30 p.m., a 12-hour time difference with the United States. It will be shown live on NBC at 8:30 a.m. EDT and will be the 42nd NFL game played outside America, all but one in the preseason.

"If there's any country we should bring our game to, it's the most populous country on earth where there's a great business environment and a great love of sport," Patriots owner Robert Kraft said.

· DEATH IN THE FAMILY: The brother of Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Reggie Wayne was killed yesterday when the delivery truck he was driving crashed into a highway guardrail in Kenner, La. Rashad Wayne , 32. was pronounced dead at the scene, said James Gallagher, a spokesman for the Kenner Police Department.

Police responded to a call at 10:15 a.m. yesterday about a wreck on westbound Interstate 10. Officers found a Capital City Produce Company truck stopped in the highway's right lane and found Wayne in the cab with a severe head injury.

The team did not address the accident and told the Associated Press a statement was pending.

I don't know if anyone's looked at the Patriots Pro Shop lately, but it's full of Pats shirts and jerseys with Chinese writing on them. Who the **** is going to buy that???

BB: "Right now I could really care less about China - or any place else. Cincinnati's the only destination I'm really concerned with right now. I really don't care about anything else right now. That's so far...that stuff is so far in the future I don't know if China will be there a year from now."

Ok Dan....so you being a member of the media and everything.....

Don't reporters know better than to ask him a question like that? It's always going to be the same answer. You always hear that the media 'has to ask'.....but doesn't it get a little repetitive?

Do they think that maybe he'll 'accidently forget' how he always answers questions and actually give an actual answer to the question?

Just curious....it must be funny to be in that room sometimes.

I am probably going to go to that game. I need to go to China at some point next year for other reasons, so I might as well try and schedule it for then
