Seeding Scenario's
Are we locked in as the fourth seed (provided we win the division) or is there still room to move up to a three seed? What would be better?

I think we want the fourth seed on the assumption that Jacksonville finishes with the best record among wild-card teams, which they should (they have a very easy schedule).
If the Pats get the third seed they might have to play Pittsburgh, SD, or KC, all of which should be tougher than the Jaguars at Foxboro. |

Personally, I'd rather it be the Pats that beat the Colts in the playoffs. Likely AFC seeding: 1 Colts 2 Broncos 3 Bengals 4 Patriots 5 Jaguars 6 Steelers ________ AMC Pacer specifications |

I think that playing the Broncoes on the road would be more difficult than playing the Colts indoors, so yes, that's another reason we want them to get the 4th seed.
So ideally, this is what we would want: Pats beat the Jags in Foxboro. Steelers beat the Bengals. Pats beat the Colts in Indianapolis. Steelers beat the Broncoes. Pats beat the Steelers in Foxboro. Pats win the Superbowl in Detroit. That's probably the easiest path for them. I have to admit I'm getting a little tired of seeing the Steelers every year. It's hard to remember when beating the Steelers was supposed to be a challenge. Does this mean they would get the last pick in each round of the draft? |

If the Steelers beat the Bungles, then I believe the Pats would play in Denver.
Indy would get the lowest seed remaining in that situation. That is at least my understanding. |

But it ain't gonna happen. I don't see Cincy losing 2 games in the next 3, so it will have to be the 4 seed, nothing else. |

Chips falling into line.....
Beat Tampa this week to secure the Division..... Start gameplanning Indy..... Invent a new scheme if you have too. The "East Coast Defense", the "Sit Down and Shut Up" Defense. Something to make Peyton shit his drawers. Play the Jets and Fins just dusting off previously used gameplans. Spend a day giving them a quick coat of polish. Focus on Indy..... Late on January 1st. Find out first round opponent and gameplan them like a normal week. Hopefully Jacksonville here at the Razor...... As the team files into the locker room victorous in their first round game, hand out "The Indy Gameplan". Have Belichick get infront of room and say, "Gentlemen, you hold in your hands the keys to defeating the Colts. Now let's get to work". The team will see the work that has gone into it and the dye will be cast. There is no way the Pats lose to these pansies. Let the good times roll...... |

Just wanted to pass this update along since a few people are talking about seeding. Still most likely the Pats take #4
With Denver’s win in Buffalo on Saturday night, the Patriots are mathematically eliminated from earning the No. 2 seed in the AFC. The worst Denver can finish is 11-5, and even if the Patriots match that mark they would lose the head-to-head tie-breaker against the Broncos. The Chargers could also finish 11-5 and the Patriots would lose that tie-breaker as well. The Patriots could still earn the No. 3 seed, but would need to win their final two games and have Cincinnati lose at least two of its remaining three games (at Detroit; vs. Buffalo; at Kansas City). |
