100% on board with this.

Do you have any idea how far somebody walks during a round of golf?

I never really knew until my friends started wearing sports trackers.

Six and a half miles is about average. That's for a walker. In a cart it is still a couple of miles which beats sitting on a couch. If you carry your clubs then it's like walking 10 without. Then torque your entire body 250 times in the act of swinging while trying to keep your concentration over four hours.

Golf can flat out kick your ass on a hot day. It's definitely a sport. It's way more demanding than people that don't play think it is. I played 5 rounds in 7 days last week and love the game/sport. Whatever.

To answer the question, the video game people should start their own version of the olympics. I'm already seeing various televised events and it's no crazier than a lot of shit that catches on.

Walking and whiffing is all I did when I've tried it (I suck ass at it). Hiking is another activity that can kick your ass too.

My point was that video games shouldn't be in any Olympics. Have some other kind of specialized/organized gathering for it.

You are not even taking into account pushing your way through trees and brush, breaking small branches and moving logs and such that are in the way of finding your ball.

Or is that just me?

Hell no.

A friend of mine is a terrible golfer with a bad slice. He loves golf, but he'd be better off just walking in the woods, because that's where he spends half the day. I pity any group behind us.

As an aside, my brother noticed that after you turn 40 there are only 3 sports that anybody does. They are:

1. Golf with a cart
2. Fishing with a boat
3. Bowling

and what do those 3 have in common?

..........beverage holders

Maybe they should make sure they have those at the Video game olympics.

The Beverage holder games. Could run along with the X-Games to cover all the demographics.
