Great article on Steph Gilmore

Well worth reading, THE best CB in the league.

Quote:
Gilmore calls Belichick the smartest coach hes ever had. During a game last season at an outdoor stadium, Belichick told him to trail his receiver when going a certain direction, because the wind would limit how far the ball would travel. Gilmore learned to undercut routes in the red zone instead of making the receiver run through him to take advantage of the shorter, tighter field. And midway through the 2018 season, with the help of his coaches, he had a major breakthrough in his man coverage techniques.

Wow, Roberto. *

So here's this decent CB but not seeming very Revis-ish. But Bill and his team look at him and clearly saw a world of opportunity. We've always talked about how the Pats staff can "coach em up". But here it seems way more than that. Bill sees a fine athlete who is very intelligent and who cares about football. Bill pays him and sets to work where Gilmore learns more about playing his own position then he probably could have dreamed of.

A very good article and my take is simply that our Stephon Gilmore is one of Bill's greatest creations.

Cheers
