did anyone hear this clown on WEEI yesterday? what a total hater, a Pittsburgh guy who is promoting western PA QB's over Tom because Tom owns their muffin asses.

flip flops and after being berated on the air he posts his deciding reason, YPA. There you have it, it comes down to YPA and Tom is hurt by the coaching staff telling the WR to get down and live another play instead of trying to get YAC.

Damn you Kazbag, you outsmarted us!!!

we had some troll out here a while back that attempted to make that same argument. Thinking it was D22, but that might only be because he was an ogre amongst the trolls.

People get so sensitive when anyone says anything about Tom Brady. He's the best ever but there will always be jealous detractors everywhere.

Sure Ben is better that must be why he asked for Brady's shirt last year and has called him the GOAT repeatedly during his career.

LMAO, I had to stop after less than a minute because he listed his top 5. For the record, they are: 1) Peyton Manning, 2) Joe Montana, 3) Jonny Unitas, 4) Dan Marino, 5) Tom Brady. He didn't specify a specific number other than Brady so he might quibble over the ordering but I inferred based on order listed and it doesn't really matter. He has Dan Marino specifically because "he was a better passer". Here are their stats:

Peyton Manning
Completion % 65.3; TD% 5.7; Int % 2.7; YPA 7.7; YPG 270.5; Passer Rating 96.5; Sack % 3.1; Record 186-79 (.701)
Joe Montana
Completion %: 63.2; TD% 5.1; Int % 2.6; YPA 7.5; YPG 211.2; Passer Rating 92.3; Sack % 5.5; Record 117-47 (.713)
Johnny Unitas
Completion % 54.6; TD% 5.6; Int % 4.9; YPA 7.8; YPG 190.7; Passer Rating 78.2; Sack % 8.1; Record 118-63 (.651)
Dan Marino
Completion % 59.4; TD% 5.0; Int % 3.0; YPA 7.3; YPG 253.6; Passer Rating 86.4; Sack % 3.1; Record 147-93 (.612)

Tom Brady
Completion % 63.9; TD% 5.5; Int % 1.8; YPA 7.5; YPG 261.7 Passer Rating 97.6 Sack % 4.9 Record 190-54 (.778)

So Dan Marino, with nearly double the Int rate, a lower completion %, a lower TD%, lower YPA, lower YPG, and therefore a significantly worse passer rating, is "a better passer" than Tom Brady? The same is true of Johnny Unitas, with a mid 50s completion %, throwing a pick nearly 1/20 passes, taking sacks right and left, throwing for under 200 yards a game and with a passer rating sub 80? Yeah, ok.

He has on there 2 of my top 5 all time overrated QBs (Marino and Unitas, the others being Elway, Staubach and Joe Namath), so I know he is talking about "the feels" and doesn't actually know football already. But he backs it up with such glorious statements as his important traits:

First was "accuracy" being one of the most important things, yet other than Manning not a single QB on there is higher in terms of completion %. I would also argue that accuracy figures into Int %, as errant throws are easily picked off. Best Int % on there? Brady. Likely why he has the highest passer rating. But nah, that's definitely an objective list that prioritizes accuracy.

Next was "long time consistency", being great year after year. Brady has 6 consecutive appearances in the AFC championship game, has not failed to make the playoffs as a starter in over 15 years, and has posted an 85 or better passer rating every single year of his career as a starter. Manning missed that mark 3x, as did Montana, Marino missed it 7x, and Unitas only made it Above that mark 6x in an 18 year career. Yeesh. So he has the best consistency not only in his passing performance but also his winning of anyone, but nah, this is an objective list that values long time consistency.

Finally in his tweets he says it all comes down to YPA. Sure, he has Dan Marino on there with a 7.3 YPA and not Otto Graham at 9.0 on there, but nah, it's all about YPA. What a moronic loser. I already knew his opinions were nothing but drivel but it definitely seems safe to completely disregard anything that comes out of him moving forward.

Exactly.

League-wide perception of Brady will change quite a bit when he is no longer a threat. Years from now even stubborn detractors will be more in a mode of "I got to watch him play!"

You could also make an argument that a lower int % means the QB tried to force it in there less. That would mean that the % of throw aways was higher and so that would affect the % completion.

There is another award for best QB called the Lombardi Trophy.
Brady has 5 of those.

BTW, the other QBs who have been named first team all-pro during Brady's career are a combined 48-40 in the playoffs. (39-36 without Warner)
They are also 5-7 in Super Bowls.(4-6 without HGH)
