I'm not saying he couldn't have been taken out earlier, but there is no guarantee. IMO, a bloodbath sparked by fear, disorientation and impulse is just as likely.

They weren't so disoriented that they couldn't (try) to make it to the exists and they were aware of who was shooting, where he was, and what he was wearing, so no. Survivor accounts also correlated police arrest reports which described his calm demeanor. They saw him and saw him very clearly.

At any rate, this isn't any more justification for an 'assault weapons ban' than it is for avoiding movie theaters.

I think most people would be shocked to know how many people are carrying at any one time. I haven't asked anyone, but know that there is four at my church alone that I know of.

I won't pretend to say that someone might have stopped the shooting this theater shooting. I wasn't there, and don't know what the room was like. That being said, times more then not, someone CC has stopped a crime in progress then made it worse.

How would you know? Middie not you personally but you in general plural way If they have a CP. This is a serious question How could you tell? I ask because i hear a lot of people say that. They may not have to actually fire their weapon to influence the situation.

It isn't clear if Nick Meli pulling his weapon on the shooter at the Oregon Mall really is what made him stop, but this is what he said.

"I'm not beating myself up cause I didn't shoot him," said Meli. "I know after he saw me, I think the last shot he fired was the one he used on himself."

I'm not sure of the specific statistics, but many of these shooters end up killing themselves. I believe this most often takes place once they no longer have any easy victims and the police or security forces are on the scene. Again, I'm not certain of this, but IIRC, this is a common pattern.

If we assume this behavior pattern is common, then if a citizen pulls a weapon, and draws down on them, there may be no need for them to shoot to stop the murder.

How often have you heard about small shrines, candles, piles of flowers, etc. placed on the side of a road or side walk where someone died?

It certainly seems that there are a reasonable percentage of the population that return to the location where a loved one died.

These a few I found, I have found more in the last few months. My feelings is that as long as no innocent people get hurt (if the bad guy gets injured, well, so be it) it is okay. I hate to be that way, but if would be robbers knew that people were armed, they might not do it. Think of all the shootings that happen and just happen to be in "gun free zones".

Good for them. I personally feel it's safer with carriers around.

Let's face it though; only a rare, minute amount of times do these situations even arise. Media are blowing it WAY out of proportion.
