apparently U$C will find out tomorrow their punishment for years of cheating in the football and basketball programs

the NCAA will probably give them 20 hours of community service or some BS

The Big 12 might be done.

I really don't like all the changes going on in college football. But that's just me. I'm a little old school.

While the Big 12 presidents were meeting Thursday afternoon, Pac-10 commissioner Larry Scott played down a report that the Pac-10 planned to invite Big 12 members Texas, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and Colorado. The report in Orangebloods.com, the Texas site on Rivals.com, said the Pac-10 would split into two eight-team divisions

Phil Steele's 2010 College Football preview mag is out. It's definitely worth picking as it is packed with info far beyond the traditional preview mags.

He's got Oklahoma at number 1 and makes a good case for an undefeated season from them but I won't buy it until it happens on the field.

He also thinks that Alabama deserves to start the year at the top of the wire service polls and should stay there until they get beat. I can agree with that.

That would leave Nebraska, Missouri, Kansas, Kansas State, and Baylor to join the Big 10, with two divisions of 8 teams as well. I could live with that.....

I still miss the friggin SWC for cripes sake!

I like the idea that each of the major conferences has their own identity. I may be living in the past but to me the Pac-10 feels like the Pac-10 and the Big Ten feels like the Big Ten. Same for the SEC and the Big 12. I hate the idea of losing that. It may be gone already and I'm just deluding myself but I still get a certain feeling about certain conferences. I like Big 12 Ball better than Pac-10 ball for the most part. I like SEC football best of all but sometimes (lots of times) I'm in the mood for some Big 10 instead. I'd hate to lose all that but again, I may just be fooling myself at this point.

Another Perspective

If they aren't going to playoffs during the Bowl season, I would like to see all the major conferences hold championship games at the end of the regular season. This seems to suggest half the number of twice as big conferences. If they can do this while keeping as many of the old rivalries alive as possible I won't argue.

Oklahoma? Really? They couldn't get it done with 3 of the top 4 picks in the draft. (I know, I know, injuries, etc.) Not a chance.
