Broadway Baker baby!

I don’t really expect the Jets to get this draft right so I’m just going by the best nicknames.

Mayfield is the 1 guy I don't want to see on the JETE although I'm expecting it.

Any possibility that the Pats sign Manziel and forego a QB this year?

That would be my worst nightmare, but I remain hopeful the Jets will fuck it up and go with Rosen.

That they'll buy the carefully crafted image makeover by Athlete's First, which has been a very slick attempt to turn that goofy bastard into the next Aaron Rodgers.

God, I can't wait to see what happens.

Mayfield is the guy that can handle New York and won't be intimidated by anything, including us. I wouldn't say he scares me, but I've watched him a lot and am officially concerned.

The most interesting thing about this draft is the way the entire AFC East's future could hang on each team's scramble to get the right QB. Tonight will affect a lot of things.

Stay tuned.

I really hope itís not Rosen, I donít think he has the drive to do what itís going to take to succeed in the NFL.
My biggest concern is the Browns taking Barkley #1. If that happens do the Giants go Chubb or QB or do the Bills trade away the farm to move up to #2 and then grab Mayfield?

For the first time in 1,092 days the New England #Patriots will be on the clock in the first round of the #NFLDraft

True unless BB trades out of the 1st for extra picks or for a current impact player a la Cooks last year. BB always looks for his options.

Iím not counting it until itís announced.

I wouldnít put it past Roger to take the card at the podium, read it, shake his head with a tsk-tsk, pull a Bic lighter out of his pocket, and set the selection card aflame with a ďNEXT!Ē

All you need to worry about is Belichick going all Sonny Weaver on everybody by trading up to "get Lamar Jackson" and creating a feeding frenzy that gets us a boatload more picks than we started with to move back down.

The bullshit level out there right now is epic and not one of them knows what'll happen, except Bill.

It should be a highly entertaining first round. All those wannabe Superstars in fresh, new outfits parading around the JerrahDome. Plenty of selfies with the Asshole in Charge.

That's 'Merica. Yeah, buddy.

Browns continue to keep the decision on their No. 1 pick a secret, but there is a mounting belief from HCs and GMs around the league that Cleveland will take Baker Mayfield.

Rosen, Darnold et al don't concern me a bit so I'm happy with this.

A lot of info in this article by Jeff Howe for the Athletic

So you want to find a QB in the NFL draft? Good luck

Just listen to one NFL coach, who doesnít work for the Patriots: ďThis QB draft isnít good. Anyone who says itís good is crazy.Ē

Patriot prototypes
Lamar Jackson, the 2016 Heisman winner, has been linked heavily to the Patriots, but he would resemble a philosophical change on multiple fronts. The teamís background work on Jackson has been undeniable, but the smokescreen factor canít be dismissed.
Thereís so much hype that it seems like a lock Jackson will be a first-round pick. But one team, which has leadership figures who hail from the Bill Belichick tree, has a third-round grade on Jackson. With a similar philosophy as the Patriots, would that teamís thinking be all that different from that of Belichick? That will ultimately be answered Thursday night.
Another team graded Jackson as an undrafted free agent. The team didnít believe Jackson could play quarterback at an NFL level. Obviously, with all of this information in mind, itís possible that team is right, or itís possible that team misevaluated Jackson. Maybe that teamís philosophy is starkly different from the Patriots.
But consider Jacksonís 6-foot-3, 200-pound frame. Belichick has drafted nine quarterbacks with the Patriots, and their average size has been 6-foot-4 and 229 pounds. (Interestingly, Brady is 6-foot-4 and 225 pounds.) Jackson would be the lightest quarterback Belichick has ever drafted.
Of lesser note, Belichick has never drafted a quarterback in the first round, including his time with the Browns. But that might be circumstantial, considering he inherited Drew Bledsoe and quickly turned it over to Brady.
So whoís next? Mason Rudolphís name surfaced at every turn as a fit for the Patriots, although an anonymous assistant coach was concerned about his ability to grasp a complicated offense after spending time in Oklahoma Stateís spread system. Luke Falk (concussions), Kyle Lauletta (lack of arm strength) and Logan Woodside (at 6-foot-2, 201 pounds, would be the smallest QB ever drafted by Belichick) were also viewed as mid-round candidates despite their most obvious weaknesses. While mid-rounders rarely pan out, theyíd have time to develop in a world-class situation with the Patriots.
With Brady under contract through 2019, the Patriots figure to have a couple chances to find his heir apparent in the next two drafts. Really, this feels like the first time since the Garoppolo draft in 2014 when the Patriots appear to be compelled to corral a quarterback prospect.
If Belichick isnít enthralled with this class, he can punt or take a mid-round flier and try again next year. But if the Patriots feel a conviction with a high-round prospect, the future of their franchise is worth the gamble.

I am coming around to BB is not likely to draft a QB this year. He may be looking at a QB that is currently on another teams roster. Maybe one of the teams picking up front, looking to pick up a possible future starter after final cut downs.

On runs where he was hit at or behind the line of scrimmage Saquon Barkley averaged just 2.5 yards after that contact. That's 33rd in the draft class. Four prospects were 4.0 or higher.

One more nugget on this. Barkley had 97 of those plays and the longest gain he turned any of them into was 25 yards.
For this spectacular home run threat, that's a distinct lack of home runs.

Nick Foles should be available next year if Wentz comes back strong.
