Need parking advice for Sunday
Although I have been to Pats games in the past, I have never been the one driving. This time it's my turn. Any suggestions on where to park at/near the stadium, or is best to take a taxi or shuttle of some kind from another location? Every time I have been to games the traffic in and out of the stadium is crazy and I'm wondering if the "in the know" locals have any good advice for me. Thanks in advance for any suggestions you can offer!

If your going to park, don't leave your headlights on. Your battery will go dead. Or,even worse, they will announce that your (plate #) has the lights on. Then 65,000 people will think you're a dumb ass.
Hope that helps. |

Depends on what you want to do....
Tailgate before and after - any lot near the stadium. Tailgate before and leave right after - any lot away from the stadium. Come and go - any lot away from the stadium. |

You didn't say which direction you were coming from. I came up from the south (495) by going north on route 1 and went into P9, which is right in front of Bass Pro Shop. It's a smaller lot than most and seemed to clear out reasonably quickly and you can take a left on RT 1 heading south out of there. Forty bucks to park. About a half mile walk into the stadium. It really seemed easier than most lots for folks coming from the south to me. |

It all depends on where you are coming from - if you live North ot South of the stadium. My son and I get to Gillette early enough to get into Lot P2 which is in front of the stadium. If you decide to park across Rt1, depending on when you get there, your walk will be 'considerable'. Leaving P2 isn't as bad as some fans make it to be - all Lots are horror shows, although I really don't know how bad the traffic is exiting lots just south of Gillette, but I can guess. You can only head north on Rt 1 from Lot P2 but we live in Randolph and know how to get from Rt1 to Main St Sharon and then travel thru Stoughton and Canton thereby avoiding the Rt1 and Rt95 traffic.

I'd go to the car dealership across from the stadium and negotiate a deal on a new set of wheels. Put down a deposit and leave for the game. Once you come back, cancel the deal and even if you forfeit the deposit, it's still less than getting charged for game day parking in the stadium.

1. Get there early because you are closer to the exit when it is time to leave.
2. Prepare to enjoy the tailgate 3. pick it all up and be ready to leave, even if you plan on staying to tailgate after. IF something happens you want to be ready. 4. Enjoy the game 5. rush to your car, that is close to the exit because you arrived early, and syrvey the situation. If you can jump out and get into traffic by gosh do so. IF it looks like a mongolian clusterfvck....set up the grill, enjoy a few Brats and listen to the hooting and hollering of fellow pats fans. |

Mikie makes good points. However, arriving early doesn't guarantee close to exit. The best way to get out quickly is To haul ass after the game.
Coming from the south, I always park in P10 South. It's the lot directly across from the stadium. You get on rte 1 north and stay as far to the left as possible. Just look for the signs. The lots across from the stadium usually open early. They're not supposed to open until four hours before kickoff. But those lots usually open about five hours before. For this Sunday, be at the gate by 2:00 and you'll be all set. I never have an issue getting out of that lot. You'll hit traffic no matter where you park. But if you don't get stressed about it, you'll be fine. Enjoy the game, bring plenty to eat and drink, perhaps you can bribe someone to let you into their heated tailgate. |
