I don't understand why you seem to think the players should have intuitively known what they were doing to their bodies when it was widely assumed by the public and football community in general that the injuries they sustained to their brains were strictly acute, and the only people with info stating otherwise made every attempt to hide it.
Not necessarily knowing the intricate specifics, but, I used to work in the oil patch (various jobs in the trade). Most everyone going into it is generally aware that it's one of the most dangerous jobs ever. I guess that's what I'm saying.

There is a much higher chance that you can get injured bad...and possibly die on the job with all of the known hazards.

And yet we approach the NFL draft in which over 500 former college players are hoping that they are the lucky ones who get the phone call.

Are we saying that those 500 are not aware of the risks?

It's part of the whole deal...a known risk.

Life is a risk.

On a side this is a BS headline grabbing article, it makes it seem like only Patriots players are involved, total misleading headline.

I don’t care who you are. I knew by 20 years old head injuries are going to cause long term effects, over 30 years ago, these players know the truth. They act like they don’t.
My thoughts exactly Mikie. Typical Globe throwing shade on the Pats and making it seem like it is only them.

The concussion thing is there for everyone to consider and weigh. There are no excuses for anyone. The truth is these guys are willing to trade in their health for the chance to play and make a ton of money. It is what it is.

Exactly...

Call it "occupational hazard".

The NFL is making way more $ than the players ever will, so, if there is a money grab possibility for the players...they should do it. I would.
