The colleges are unreal. My daughter graduated 2 years ago. She leans left but not completely. She stood up to a professor spouting left wing BS and the guy gave her a shit grade, it cost her magna cum laude on her GPA. Had to settle for summa cum laude.
My approach is similar to TMacks.. ask questions that illuminate the hypocrisy. For instance asking her if she thinks me or her mom is a racist, obviously she knows we aren't and she knows the values we instituted and stand for. And the fact that me and my black neighbors are really good friends LOL. And they love Trump, go figure. I just remind her that by the time she's 45 she'll be a conservative. She doesn't believe me... but it's true.

Thanks.

Last convo we had I pointed out almost all media are owned by 6 entities. Almost all lean left. Some strong. We’ll never get a non-biased view.

She got it.

It includes no specific policies, no legal requirements, plans, budgets, nothing. Just a list of "wouldn't it be nice" and stuff that it proposes the government somehow "fix", without any actual actionable items. As such it's as fair to say it would cost $0 as it is to say it would cost $100 Quadrillion, as it's not actually anything.

Here's the cliff notes version:

Climate Change is bad, and caused by humans. The US is responsible, and must fix it. Due to climate change, the US is facing lower life expectancy, wage stagnation, inadequate money for the government, income inequality, and wage gaps between black and white folks and men and women. (Yes it really blames climate change for racial wealth disparity and wage stagnation, feel free to check it out at the link at the end).

The new deal was great, so we should do something like that, and create millions of high wage jobs in the US and unprecedented prosperity for all. So let's make a green new deal to make those things happen. As such the green new deal should achieve the following:
Achieve net zero greenhouse gas emissions
Create millions of high wage jobs
Invest in infrastructure
Ensure clean air and water, community resiliency, healthy food and a sustainable environment for generations to come
Promote justice and equality

To achieve those goals, we need to set the following goals:
Build resiliency in our communities
Invest in infrastructure
Eliminate pollution and greenhouse gas emissions as much as technologically feasible
Use renewable energy, which must simultaneously be new and smart and energy efficient but also super affordable.
Upgrade all buildings in the United States to achieve max energy and water efficiency and also affordability.
Spur massive growth in "clean manufacturing" as much as technologically feasible, by, uhm, well...
Work with farmers and ranchers to clean up their emissions as much as technologically feasible, by supporting them.
Overhaul US transportation systems to be as free of emissions as technologically feasible, by investing in it.
Clean up the environment
Help other countries create a green new deal as well
Provide higher education to all people of the USA
Invest in new tech, businesses, local and regional economies
Create lots of union jobs
Raise the minimum wage
Provide everyone with high quality health care, affordable, safe, and adequate housing, economic security, clean water, clean air, healthy and affordable food, and access to nature.

That's it. Just a list of stuff the government should invest in. No plans, no regulations or rules, no limits, no even setting up commissions to study anything, nothing. Were this passed into law, it would achieve absolutely nothing, because it is nothing. It was never meant to be passed, so it's not actually a law, it's just a fluff piece to talk about in the news. See for yourself.

TEHRAN — Iran's Revolutionary Guard forces have seized a foreign oil tanker accusing 12 crew members of smuggling oil, state TV reported Thursday.
The seizure*comes amid heightened tensionsbetween the*United States and Iran*after President Donald Trump withdrew from the 2015 nuclear deal — triggering Iran to start rolling back its commitments to the deal, a move Tehran says is reversible if sanctions are removed.

The ship was seized in Larak Island in the Strait of Hormuz, a strategic waterway off Iran's coast which separates the Persian Gulf from the Gulf of Oman, according to broadcaster IRIB. The report added the vessel had been towed after a distress call Sunday and was later seized for fuel smuggling.

The Revolutionary Guard said smugglers were transporting gasoline from Iran on small boats to a large tanker anchored outside Iranian territorial waters, IRIB reported, adding that the ship was carrying 1 million liters of the fuel.
The U.S. Fifth Fleet said it was aware of reports that Iran's Revolutionary Guard had seized a foreign oil tanker with 12 crew, but did not comment further. Lt. Col. Earl Brown, a spokesman for the U.S. Central Command, also said they were aware of the reports but did not comment further.

The report didn't identify the tanker or say which country the crew were from. However, The Associated Press reported earlier this week that tracking data showed that an oil tanker based in the United Arab Emirates traveling through the strait drifted off into Iranian waters and stopped transmitting its location last weekend.
But an Emirati official told NBC News on Tuesday that the "tanker in question is neither UAE owned nor operated, does not carry Emirati personnel, and did not emit a distress call."

Iran's Revolutionary Guard is a powerful military branch of the Iranian government that has significant economic resources and answers only to the country's supreme leader. In April, the Trump administration*designated the military unit as a foreign terrorist organization*in the same category as al Qaeda and the Islamic State group, further ratcheting up tensions.
The incident is the latest to be reported in or near the Strait of Hormuz.

Trump in 2020, but this lady needs a more prominent position and publicity. Need to look into her more. That is the type of intelligent, versed, composed lady I could envision as the first woman President. Not...

Funny, yes, but the reason for the instruction, "lather rinse repeat" is to sell more shampoo. It's purpose is to get you to use twice as much shampoo as is needed. One of the great all-time sales ploys.

Cheers

for people of this intellectual magnitude the instruction "for external use only" is what we're targeting here.

It's never easy, it's never perfect. The best you can hope for is that someone that values the person more than they value the estate is making the decisions.

If you get someone that values the estate or the money more than the person, God help you.

Colleges have been like this for decades, it's just worse now.

I was a college student at a major university during the '88 election. I watched the results at a gathering with the Political Science faculty, along with a large number of other students. Some kids were pro-Dukakis, a few were loudly pro-Bush. But it was clear who the faculty supported based on how depressed they were. lol

Anyway, as it became clear Bush was going to win going away, I made an offhand comment about how it was going to take the Democrats more than 3 election cycles to "recover from Jimmy Carter". The Head of the Department heard me and tried to tell me the GOP winning 3 elections in a row had nothing to do with that, and it was instead about one Party being for the wealthy monied interests, blah, blah, blah, voters were selfish, blah..

Even as a 20 year old, I knew this prestigious college professor was throwing me a line of bullshit. Maybe he believed it himself, who knows. But anyone with common sense who was paying attention, knew that voters remembered Carter and his disastrous economy, soaring inflation and interest rates, and how he was totally cucked by the Iranian Hostage Crisis. Voters simply didn't trust Dems with the presidency, especially since they experienced the booming economy under Reagan. Polls consistently showed that, and I knew it.

Yet this supposedly educated man was trying to pretend otherwise and act like the explanation was elsewhere. That's when I first experienced, first-hand, that something was seriously wrong with the political bent of higher academia - and common-sense and self-reflection didn't much exist there.
