I don't care one way or the other. It's just funny to see things like the PTA being touted as vice presidential worthy experience, and then actual governing in those positions be dismissed. It is, or it isn't. If it is, it's open game. A strong case can be made that Palin's family is open game, too, since her family and raising five kids is a big part of her actual campaign.

It's almost humorous how people are scrambling to defend politicians.

For the record... I am not defending any politician. I have addressed issues I have with both candidates ( many more so with Obama ) and said I am basically voting for the candidate that is best for America for the next 4 yrs, which I feel is McCain.

And also for the record... I have seen very little out of the Obama supporters in defending their candidate, but simply attacking the Reps, and not even really McCain, but Palin. Anytime I've brought up actual issues and Obama, other than one or two, none of his supporters address them, they just go back to their hate mongering. What's even funnier is I actually brought up Obama's flip-flopping, and an Obama supporter asked exactly what I was referring to and once I brought it up... Nothing.

That leads me to one of two conclusions...

1) Obama's supporters have no idea what Obama is for, his stance on issues, or what his past record is, or McCain for that matter, so they can't discuss issues.

or

2) They don't care about issues at all, in regards to either candidate, but simply prefer to attack the other side.

Either way.... It shows the sad state of American politics.

Barack Obama: Pork Barrel Champion
The Obama campaign seems committed to criticizing Governor Palin for having requested earmarks for her state--something that all governors do. Given Obama's unwillingness to own up to his impressive record for pork-barreling, it's useful to take a look at how Senator Obama has voted on anti-pork amendments offered by Senator Tom Coburn in the current Congress.

Against three amendments to kill three pork-barrel projects and redirect the money to housing for victims of hurricanes Katrina and Rita.

Against an amendment to shift transportation funds from bike paths and to structurally deficient bridges.

Against an amendment to cut the $100 million taxpayer subsidy for the 2008 party political conventions.

Against an amendment to express the sense of the Senate that there is a moral obligation to offset the cost of new spending.

Against an amendment to shift unspent Department of Agriculture funds to farm assistance.

Against an amendment to kill the Advanced Technology Program -- regarded by many as a classic example of corporate welfare.

Failed to vote on an amendment to kill John Murtha's pork-barrel NDIC and spend the money on counter-drug intelligence.

Failed to vote on an amendment to prioritize Sacramento flood protection over more sand for San Diego beaches.

Failed to vote on an amendment to prioritize UN assistance for life-saving programs over those demonstrated to be corrupt.

Against an amendment to cut 6 out of 600 earmarks from an appropriations bill, and use the $1.6 million in savings to increase funding for solving civil rights crimes.

Against an amendment to eliminate all pork-barrel projects until Congress provides health care for all American children.

Against an amendment to express the sense of the Senate that the cost of new spending should be offset.

Against an amendment to require Congress to re-assess the America Competes Act after four years.

I am sorry. I don't like Palin at ALL. McCain meets her one time for what, 15 minutes and he makes HER his choice? Why? What does he think she can bring to the table? You all realize that if they are elected that if HE drops DEAD of a heart attack or has a STROKE and is INCAPACITATED, guess who is the President? Yep, SHE IS! Not Mitt Romney or Rudy Guiliani who I thought would have been a better running mate for him. A woman who has been Governor of Alaska for 20 months, and people are banging on OBAMA for not having experience? This is a woman who reminds me of those townspeople in that Footloose movie who would ban dancing and rock music like KISS and Ozzy Osbourne and would make teaching Darwin's Theory of Evolution illegal like back in the 20's. Oh joy, more "Monkey Trials" like that T.S. Scopes back in the 20's. I mean, she does want creationism taught in the schools, no? Sounds like fun. NOT. IMO, McCain is more of the same. Like the Who song says, "Meet the new boss. Same as the old boss."

This was kind of funny. I knew Tina Fey would end up doing Palin.

Tina Fey's impersonation is spot-on.... but the Hillary impersonator is horrible... If they didn't say who it was, I wouldn't know who it was supposed to be...
