Awesome talent, a great man. RIP.
Jimmy Webb wrote some great songs, and Glen Campbell knocked that one out of the park. Glen also had huge hits with other Webb songs: "Galveston" and "By The Time I Get To Phoenix."

Loved that song.

That Christmas the 45 was under the tree.
When I was in 6th grade, my friends and I used to hang out in the basement of my house doing weird stuff with a tape recorder (burp, fart, scream whatever). I sang Rhinestone Cowboy in it's entirety one day and got a bunch of crap from my friends.

But it wasn't close to the crap I caught in school the next day when my friend played the tape over the intercom for the entire cafeteria study hall (probably 200 kids.) He got in trouble but said the next day that it was well worth it.

RIP Mr. Campbell

IIRC, I believe "Wichita Lineman" was one of Rolling Stones 500 greatest songs of all time. I'll have to re check that list.

Update: Rolling Stone lists it at #195 on their top 500 songs.

I was never much of a country music fan, but Glen Campbell was one of the very few I would listen to.

May he rest in peace.

Read an old quote from Leon Russell saying Campell was the best guitar player he ever knew. He's certainly the best I ever saw and I love all the great players.

edit: Pneumonics' clip is great, and the very last scene on that was from his last tour... guy playing insane guitar with Alzheimer's disease..... it was amazing to see it live.
