Craigslist Creepiness and WTF is wrong with people?

Not so much a politics or religion topic, but I had to share this. So, I listed some retro gaming stuff on Craigslist for my son. A couple consoles, 20 carts, extra peripherals and accessories. Pick up in person in my town.

So some dude emails to see if the lot is still for sale. So starts the back and forth email exchange. I mail him back and tell him yes, it's still available. He said he could meet me after 4:00 pm to make the purchase. I told him that works for me, that we could pick a public spot or if he needed to verify their working condition I could demo them in my garage (I have a TV out there, it faces the road in a busy neighborhood). He emails back and asks if some church parking lot outside my town would work. Now this church is 2 miles outside of town with only a few houses nearby and it's parking lot sits about 200 feet off the main road and 200 feet off the cross road. That seemed a little bit wonky so I offered to meet at the local PD, which is only an few minutes further north on the same road. I wrote that they offer their lobby as a safe meetup spot for eCommerce transactions/exchanges.

He gets pissy and balks at my proposal, and tries to turn the tables like I was somehow the creeper by offering my home as an option to pickup the items. I replied that I only offered it as one option among several (I have used the library lobby, the PD lobby, the courthouse lobby etc in the past), and only because most people buying vintage/collectible electronics actually want to verify they are in working order before dropping a few to several hundred dollars on it. I reminded him that my most recent suggestion was the lobby of the police station, a place that likely couldn't be any safer for all parties involved. He still hasn't replied back, and this was a few hours ago now lol.

I think I may have dodged a bullet on this one.

You get a creepy feeling pass on the whole thing. Just tell him where you will meet. The convenience of options just ended when the creep factor rose.
