Bill must think it's an acceptable risk. I can understand why.. He will be splitting carries/catches with Burkhead, White and Lewis so that mitigates some of that risk.

I hope Buffalo doesn't match the offer sheet, but I have a lousy feeling that they will.. If only to not look like chumps helping the Pats two years in a row.

But stranger things have happened! (Like coming back from 25 points down in the second half of a Super Bowl!! )

He lost his rookie season with the Fins because of a hamstring that put him on IR.
He missed weeks 12 last season for a hamstring also but came back in week 13 he rushed eight times for 49 yards and two touchdowns in the Bills' Week 13 loss to the Raiders. Gillislee rushed two times for 34 yards in the Bills' Week 14 loss to the Steelers. Gillislee rushed nine times for 37 yards and a touchdown in the Bills' Week 15 win over the Browns. He rushed 11 times for 91 yards in the Bills' Week 16 loss to the Dolphins. He had 40 yards and a touchdown on 15 carries and caught his only target for 10 yards in the Bills' Week 17 loss to the Jets. Remember he was backup to LeSean McCoy.

As for Gillislee, Monday is the deadline for the Bills to decide whether to match the Patriots’ two-year, $6.4 million offer, or receive a fifth-round pick in return. If you’re Bills owner Terry Pegula and you watched in 2016 as your organization lost productive receiver Chris Hogan to the divisional-rival Patriots (with no compensation in return) over a low restricted free-agent tender offer, is this one you step in on and ask some hard questions to your football folks before lightning strikes twice? Just a thought.

Mike thinks the Bills will try hard to match the Pats offer bc letting Hogan go last year made them look foolish.

I am much reassured by this. A rookie who goes on IR before the season begins sounds like stashing a rookie who won't clear waivers to get on the practice squad.

The longer they don't announce seems more likely to me thaey are strongly inclined to match. We'll see soon enough. They can do it cap wise. A little tight but not insane.

Cheers

Lewis is a fumble or 2 away from never seeing the field again. He is on the bubble.
