Baker Mayfield?

Got me thinkin' while watching Good Morning Football, they were talking about Baker Mayfield getting a bad rap because of his antics, because of how he acts like Johnny Manziel, but in my opinion, this could be a boon for us since we got rid of Jimmy G to the 49ers. He may be a little smaller than your usual QB, but what he gives us is the ability to run, to throw, and it would put a lot more pressure on the defense than usual. Since 2001, we've had a QB who is the golden boy, the master of the one yard sneak, but to have a QB who can get you 25 on one run, set you up for a TD, that's great. Brady has a few good years left for the Patriots, but I feel we need to pick our QB of the future. People are talking about Mason Rudolph, Josh Allen, but Mayfield is flying under the radar.

Sure, we can't get Barkley for RB, but I think a nice building block for the future is to draft Mayfield to groom behind Brady.

If Johnny Manziel and Heath Shuler had a baby it would be Baker Mayfield.

no thanks. Besides, I think the Redskins are going to be stupid enough to draft him anyway.

I think he’ll be excellent.

The Manziel comps are borderline retarded. It’s clearly come to light Johnny Football has substance abuse issues.

Mayfield is on field demeanor. You want a comp that fits that? Phillip Rivers. Same fire and passion.

He’d ride pine for 1-2 maybe 3 here and see the more professional procedure. Bill would tame the wildness and have an awful lot to work with.

Could be all moot anyways.

Pre season I was thinking Rudolph the top target, but no chance he’d be available.

Most listings have him 5 at best now.

I’m predicting he’s the guy right now.

Possible move up.

Elway wanted to take a long look at him but I've heard Mayfield won't even play after skipping the first day weigh-in.

He will be 10x better than Kirk Cousins if they do.

If you are seriously comparing him to Heath Shuler, you haven't seen him play.

In all fairness, I've seen him play one time. Against GA. Under threw a lot of guys.

yeah, I compared him to Shuler. Shuler won the Heisman too.

Not all impressed with what I saw, maybe I expected more?

I don't really know what you expected. The fact that Oklahoma was in the playoff at all was solely due to Baker Mayfield. This isn't Sam Bradford's Oklahoma with 15 pros on the team. That cupboard's bare.

Go watch the Bedlam game from a couple of months ago, and tell me he doesn't have an NFL arm. Or even @Oohi. He's a taller Flutie, if anything, if you want a College Comp.

MAYLOCK said the kid was sent the playbook because he was going to miss the weigh in and looked good yesterday.

Also heard Denver had him placed on the North team so they could get intimate with him.

Baker Mayfield shines brightest on Senior Bowl Day 1
Daniel Jeremiah and Bucky Brooks

MOBILE, Ala. -- Editor's note: NFL.com analysts and former NFL scouts Daniel Jeremiah and Bucky Brooks of the Move The Sticks Podcast share some of their scouting notes from Day 1 of Reese's Senior Bowl practice.

NFL Network will have live coverage of Reese's Senior Bowl practices beginning at 1 p.m. ET on Wednesday and Thursday, as well as exclusive coverage of the game on Jan. 27 at 2:30 p.m. ET.

1. Oklahoma QB Baker Mayfield continues to show people that when it comes to timing, touch and anticipation, he has all the stuff. That's where he separates himself from other QBs. He hit a couple skinny posts where he threw the ball well before the receiver broke and the pass was right on the money.

He was the last Senior Bowl participant to arrive here in Mobile, getting into town on Tuesday afternoon before heading over to practice, and he showed once again that he's a gamer. His competitiveness shines in settings like this one.

The big thing to watch with Mayfield will continue to be what he does off the field. Will he convince people that he can be the CEO of the program? Interviews with NFL teams will be a big deal for him this week. -- Bucky Brooks
