We can sign not good if need be.
Lewis is not our lead back anymore. BB told you that when he traded for Giselee and paid him $4 mil, extended White at $3 mil/year and signed Burkhead for 1 yr/$3 mil. Lewis is the RB most on the bubble. That is why he played last night while all of our other RBs sat.

Come on, Dwight. You watched the Texans game. The offense scored 27 points. You don't need a dominant D to win when you score 27 points. ANd how dominant was the D that the next week went out and let the friggin' Bills score 27?

JB was a rookie who had close to ZERO training camp snaps because JG and Brady split them. He did okay against the Fins, better against the Texans. If you recall, that fatass Wilfork we're all slobbering over jumped on him late and mangled his throwing thumb. As soon as Rex Ryan realized he couldn't throw the Bills game was over.

You can believe he lost the Bills game because they had film on him, but they had film after Miami.

I'm not a huge JB fan. He is still throwing to high and too hard just as he did as a rookie, not a good sign. I just need to see who will replace him, even if only on the shadow roster, who is available that has done better than he has. I don't want to replace a guy who has yet to throw his first NFL interception to a pickoff machine. As you mentioned earlier, a dominant D can make anyone a winner.

Don't strawman. It's not impossible. But it's so highly unlikely based on history that I'd never put money on it.

Saying it's "not impossible" shouldn't fill you with confidence about your own position. It's "not impossible" that you'll win the Powerball, either.

Nobody forgets that.

The part you're conveniently leaving out was the fact the said 6th rounder was rocketing up the depth chart, surpassing the well paid Huard brought in and the incumbent back ups.

JB has looked like poo.

We can sign poo off the street.

Right. Also, to draft the greatest QB ever at 199 is so unlikely that something equivalent to it happens once in a generation. Brissett boosters shouldn't bring it up - it proves the opposite of what they think it does.

Even if the street guy is worse, I don't think the difference between the two is so important that it outweighs protecting another player that you think will contribute more.

Correct.

If we're to the 3rd QB the season is toast folks.

Pretty sure Cassell was a 7th round pick who never even started a game in college and won 11 for us. I mean it is like you guys have not followed the Pats at all the last 17 years. This is what BB does. He drafts QBs and develops them and when called upon they win games for the Pats. We have seen it over and over. Some FA vet wash up is not how BB rolls at the QB position.

Do I trust BB to get more out of a QB in a short spot than other coaches? Probably, yeah. But what I don't want them to do is (hypothetically) expose a guy to waivers who could be a very important player for the next 5 years just so Brissett can be protected. I'm not saying Carr is that guy - we're just talking about him today because he had a good game last night. It could be some other bubble guy the coaches might fall in love with.

What I'm saying is it might be worth waiving JB, if you think it's less likely that he would be claimed by someone else, as opposed to the bubble guy we're talking about being claimed instead. There's a good chance you could then have bubble-guy on the roster, and still have JB on the practice squad to elevate him in case the need arises. It's a risk, but you'd have your cake and eat it, too.

I think the obvious answer is to put him on the PS (if his performance doesn't improve).

That way he practices, he doesn't count against the 53 & he's available if needed no later than the next game. [If both TB & JG are injured in a game, send Edelman in to hand the ball off and JB will be ready for the next game.]

They'll be a handful of QBs available after cut downs that'll be at least close in capability to JB when the rosters go from 90 to 53.

That also know the system? Because that is what BB cares most about and why he did not bring anyone in last year after Jimmy got hurt when there were more experienced QBs available ...

I agree, but I think the people I'm arguing with are worried that another team will claim JB off waivers and he won't make it to the PS.

It's a risk, but I'm not as worried as they are.

If he keeps playing like this who in their right mind would want him?
