disgusting trade, pats would have had a compensatory 3 if they simply kept jg so really it was not for a 2 but for the diff between 2 and a 3.

Which roughly doubles the value of the pick.

we are talking about a starting quality qb - the value of which is a fvckton more than the diff between 2 and 3.

the futures of entire franchises are changed on such deals.

BB is a "value" guy and frankly he sold jg for pennies on the dollar

Paying 20+ mil for a benchwarmer is exactly the kind of cap mistake that this team rarely makes.

exactly or if you want to trade it should have been last off-season and you ignite a bidding war...

The market determines the value. If the market would have paid more at the trade deadline, then I agree that he made a mistake. (Other teams might be kicking themselves for not doing so , but hindsight: 20/20)

If any mistake was made, it was not trading him for (possibly) more in the off-season, but it seems that he wanted a good option in the wings with a 40 year old QB starting, which makes a degree of sense. Mid-season, no issues, so get a pick with twice the value.

What would have been a mistake? Paying 20 mil for a guy with half a dozen starts to backup an MVP.

JG will be, what, 29 years old then?

Either way, I don't think based on these few starts, he's the second coming of Joe Montana. There will be other QBs in the draft to develop.

I realize that it was a tricky situation, but, this one could come back to bite them in the ass. Especially for what BB got back.

This trade is looking worse and worse by the week.

6-0 to start his career.

The last 4 with a below average team.

Agreed, but maybe that's why he went to an NFC team.

Either way, a pick in the 30s is should be good value -- he better make it work. There will be a lot of eyes on that selection.

Not really true, compensatory picks are at the end of the round, so it's the difference between pick 35ish and pick 99 or so.

Edit: And that's assuming the Pats offseason FA acquisitions did not impact that pick, for what it's worth. Not that I suspect they would, but they could. This opens up more flexibility in free agency as well.

BB should asked for more help on defense like linebackers...it looks like a terrible trade.

BB never even tried to develop a market

agree a trade should have been in the offseason if you are going to trade but either way you need to set up a market

What would have been a mistake? Paying 20 mil for a guy with half a dozen starts to backup an MVP.

JG will be, what, 29 years old then?

you had better hope TB lasts that long and he maintains his current level of play

Either way, I don't think based on these few starts, he's the second coming of Joe Montana. There will be other QBs in the draft to develop.

good luck with that it can take decades to find a good qb

sorry for the crappy format
