Is a gift not taxed double irrespective of who pays the tax?

I'm not sure where you keep coming up with a double tax I'm speaking of triple taxes.

No, if I gave you a car you would pay no tax on the gift I already paid the tax. See Brady and Butler as a free gift to Bradey he is responsible for the tax. Now Bulter may have to pay tax on said car I really don't know Mass. property tax laws after a year. Assuming he has to pay property tax then yes but no where near a gift tax at purchase.

If my husband buys me a diamond bracelet I'm not paying property tax or any other tax. He would pay a sales tax. If I give my child or grandchild a college education fund in the form of a trust no they won't pay a tax I will I own the trust I pay the tax.

It's kinda like a savings bond E2 I believe, bonds have changed so much and are useless I can't keep up. When you or whom ever cashes it in there are 2 names on the bond the person who physically cashes it in pays the tax. Their grandparents bought the bonds with my name as a consignor I paid the tax when the bonds were cashed. I could have let my children do it but I didn't want them paying the tax.

Once more the estate has been paying taxes all along, the estate tax upon death is charged an speperate "estate tax" . Then the recipient pays another inheritance tax on what they received from the estate. The estate is taxed 3 times in one year depending on the estate value.

A gift does not have to be monetary to be taxable, fwiw

But irrespective of that, your argument is that since something has been taxed once, it shouldn't be taxed again. Is that a correct framing?

Again you're talking about gift taxes which have little to do with estate and inheritance tax. I'm speaking strictly about estate taxes which you said should be upheld. Different rule and regulations.

No, that's not my agreement at all. It's not a double tax it's being taxed 3 times in one year upon your death is my arguement FWIW.

out of 2.6 million americans who died in 2013 4700 paid some estate tax.

you need to have $5 million in net assets to pay it.

and we are somehow arguing this effects the middle class.

OK

I still cant figure out wtf happens with my state taxes.

I overpay thru the course of the year, in essence loaning the state some dough for free. Stupid I know, but things are generally tight for us that time of year and a tax bill from out of the blue would hurt.

I get a refund of the money Ive overpaid the state.

Then that refund of overpayment is considered income the following year from the state for tax purposes.

OK
I don't care who it affects, it's theft because it subverts property rights. Why does who "the victim" is matter? Wrong is wrong, and money and other things upon which tax has already been paid should never be taxed again, ever, regardless of reason.

That's probably about 4000 small businesses. That's my issue. Maybe 700 Kennedy types.

$5 million.

You can make all the real estate arguments you want, this is bullshit propaganda that is spun by the lobbyists in thrall to the donor class, who really want to save the money they spend on trust and tax attorneys and amass greater wealth by eliminating the estate tax.

This is the kind of shit they actually talk about behind closed doors at the Bilderberg Baron, not convoluted ways of amassing power behind corporate shells and engineering takeovers of countries that take 60 years to come to fruition. These are not patient people.

I lost a job I loved because of the greedy dipshittery of the two useless kids and useless wife of the man who actually helped build it, then left his share to them when he died. Second gen wealthy (non builders) are generally useless twats if they are raised to do nothing for themselves. But it's the same attitude people supported mostly by taxpayers/charity have. I saw it with our education foundation that gave scholarships to inner city kids. Horrible work ethics, entitled attitudes, etc. despite being given cushy jobs that usually preferred college degrees, and getting paid as much as the ft people and having a very low gpa to have to meet. Handing people anything unearned is almost always a terrible idea. But the government stealing accomplished wealth/property from people who earned something via their not allowing it to be gifted to their dependents is a horrible answer to that issue because it is still theft.

Big win?

pretty low bar then, this is more like a field goal on the opening drive of the first quarter.
