Can't wait to hear Ed Houchuli explain a replay decision while casually flexing his biceps.

I would like to think that it was my Boycott thread that tipped the balance in the negotiations.

As much as we all give Ed Hochiuli the business for his tight shirts I think we all owe him a debt of gratitude. As I understand the scenario, the main reason the Refs can come back immediately is due to the conference call that Ed decided was necessary every week after all of the games were played. During this conference call (usually 90+ of the 121 refs were involved each week), the games/calls were discussed and all refs were kept up to date on all rule changes. When the NFL CBA was settled last year, I'm sure it was very difficult for non-Patriots fans to swallow their pride and thank Mr Kraft for the lead he took with Jeff Saturday to get that settled, especially while he was mourning the passing of his wife. I think, again, we all owe Ed a great deal of thanks for getting the regular refs ready to do games immediately upon an agreement being reached.

Thanks, Ed.

Story on NFL.com

Quote:
NFL referee Ed Hochuli told NFL.com's Jeff Darlington that he's ready to work a game this weekend. The officials expect to ratify the deal Saturday morning, Hochuli said.

"But all 121 guys and I are very glad we're back," Hochuli said. "We are ready. We missed preseason, and there's nothing we can do about missing on-field practice. But we've worked very, very hard over the last several months. We've taken 18 extensive rules tests, watched hours and hours of video every week. We've worked very hard to be prepared. I think we're ready."

When asked how many curls he did when he heard the rumors that a deal might be getting done today, the famously muscular Hochuli said, "As soon as I heard the rumors, I got down on the floor and started doing pushups."
