I don't think I have to tell you that BB is always looking at those few percentage point advantages, and IMHO, the odds that SF decides to keep JimmyG is better than 50-50, especially after how he played for them.

So if we assume the 50-50 odds for the sake of argument, I have no doubt that BB would say 50% vs 100%? It's a no brainer to take the 50%.
Post 162 has the % significantly higher.

From what I've heard, Belichick basically picked up the phone at the last minute, called San Fran specifically, and offered Jimmy G in a trade. The Patriots had no suitors or offers (at least none serious enough for the media to report on). Nonstory.

You are positively nuts if you actually believe that.

Teams that would have clear interest:

SF
Cleveland
Pittsburgh
Miami
JETE
Buffalo
Arizona
Jacksonville

Possible:

Cincy
Balt

Basically every team with a shaky or iffy qb situation...

Toms doing Tom things. GOAT.

Power summit in NE. I don’t believe in a mandate. At all. Kraft knows Bill has forgotten more about football than he knows about being a GM. I do think coming out of that meeting Kraft probably positively enforced Bill that he’ll find and develop another.

Bills not happy. He had everything perfect. Transition scenario was ripe. But TB12. Fvcking avocado ice cream. Nightshades. Green sea algae. Who does that?

Just the GOAT.

Ok, we gotta move Jimmy. Fvck!

Bill: Hey Lynch.
Lynch: What’s up Bill?
Bill: Still want a QB?
Lynch: Yeah!
Bill: Ok, we’ll deal. What’s the offer?
Lynch: 1st and 3rd?
Bill: I’ve got a stipulation: No trade to AFC East and frown on AFC altogether.
Lynch: That’s pretty steep Bill. Trade and then still dictating asset movement. That costs.
Bill: Still want him?
Lynch: Yes. It’s a 2nd now though. But we’ll agree. No trades.
Bill: Deal.

Explains Bills caginess in his post trade presser about “you’d be right to have and ask questions but I will not answer at this point in time”

Explains Lynch’s default to remaining very tight lipped about the process in their interview.

Probably some type of collusion that would be frowned on but will be irrelevant when JG is extended.

Anyways, that’s my guess.
Mine too and it's a lot more logical than thinking BB's an idiot because he could have gotten more.

And every AFC team on that list is a total no-go with the possible exception of the Siberia Browns.

Leaving SF and Arz.

Pittsburgh?

Baltimore?

not for 2 firsts

Not impossible, but if it ever got out Bill would be excommunicated from the league. I doubt he would take that much risk to just avoid having to face Jimmy a few more times.

What are you talking about? It's out there right now, you just quoted it. That's all ESPN needs to run it up the flag pole. I'm sure EVERYONE will salute. Say goodbye to our #1 draft pick for the next 4 years...

Business is business and deals frequently have contingencies. In this case unwritten but I'd bet it happens often in sports.

It's not just BB facing him in a game or 2 a year, it's about competing against his team for the best record/playoff spot.

Why would SF trade this amazing QB worth multiple first they stole for a second? (Allegedly)

Ok, well, JG play enough games to project his yearly TDs and INTs.
It's not as good as people here think.

6 games 7 TDs 5 INTs = 18 games 21 TDs 15 INTs with a QBR of 78.
It is what it is.
