Pilgrimage to the Homeland

I was born in Weymouth MA in 1967, lived most of my life in RI and lived in Mansfield MA for a few years before taking a job in Cleveland, OH. That was 8 years ago. Most of the rest of my family still live in the MA/RI area, and I try to take my family back to the homeland for a visit at least once a year, although there have been a couple of years when we didn’t make it.

I was back again this past weekend for the baptism of my nephew, and took my 2 sons (ages 10 and 4) with me. I know I’m raising my kids right b/c my 10 year old was crying his eyes out when the Pats lost the superbowl (he did the same the prior superbowl too).

During our visit we stopped by the stadium. This was the first time we went through The Hall at Patriots Place and I’ve got to say it was great! They really did a good job. It was a great blend of history/exhibits/displays for the older folks like me and my dad, and interactive, fun things for the kids. The short film that they showed was really well done. All 3 generations of my family loved it and I was really happy to be able to walk through the place with my son and be able to point out things/players/events that I remember so well from my youth, and see him get excited about things that he remembers from our shared experiences of watching games and the championship DVD’s together.

It was truly a great time and a sort of bonding experience that is hard to describe. Some of that is due to the fact that its harder to get him to feel like a part of “Patriots Nation” when he’s the only kid in his school who is a Pats fan, so I think it really made him feel like he was part of a large community of fans, rather than feeling like an island here in Ohio.

Anyway, sorry for the long rambling post, but just want to say (1) if you haven't been, you should go, its worth it, and (2) to Bob Kraft and the Patriots organization - WELL DONE!! And THANK YOU.

,,,,,,,,,,and well done to you, Seuss. Yeah the Hall is great, and you taking your son is also great. I'm sure you'll both cherish the memory forever.

It is an amazing experience. Do you have any plans to attend a game?

Belichick (1/24/15) I would not say Im the Mona Lisa Vito of the football world as she was in the car expertise area.

Now that Im 21 (and legal in the U.S.) I think I might make the pilgrimage to the states...this is definitely on my to-do list now, also! Thanks Seuss!

Is Patriots Hall always open (as in during the season also)?

Definitely, at some point. Often the timing of our trips revolve around family events/activities, and the kids are still a little young, so I haven't made it a priority yet, but there are games together in our future for sure.

I see a domed stadium and SB LXXX in his future.

I live in the Cleveland area too. The way I deal with being a Pats fan here is to stay on this board a lot.

I love the Hall.

I still get funny looks once in a while that FT and I's first date was there. I think it was a perfect place.

Most first date ideas suck...what's better than going to the Hall?

Hmmm, maybe someday I'll be able to go to the hall. Probably be in the summer during the offseason.

Excellent Seuss - I live in Indiana and essentially did the same thing with my 2 kids over the past 20 years- brought them both down to Foxborough. We went to training camp several times when they were young- both are now in their mid to late 20's now and hard core Patriot fans, much to my delight!
