Playoff seeding

It seems that every year Pats fans and the Pats in general fret over home field advantage and getting the number 1 seed for a playoff run. Yet look at the recent winners of the Super Bowl. A 4 seed won this year. It seems that maybe a different approach is needed. If we can get that seeding, great, but if it means resting and healing a few key players to drop a spot or two in the seeding, it may be better to take the later approach. High seedings have done nothing for us in recent years. Getting hot and healthy for the playoffs seems far more important.

You have to be lucky to be hot and healthy, in order to be hot, you have to play your best players, and when you do that you take a chance they can get hurt.

I guess, to use a slightly whacked-out analogy, I see it a little like a game of Russian Roulette. Get a bye, and you have to take one fewer turn that could end your season.

You can't lose a game you don't have to play. Maybe that's not a champion mentality on some level, but the logic is hard to argue.

Beaglebay has disabled reputation
The way NE played in the AFCCG won't get you far, regardless of seeding.

Only one team plays good and thats the one that wins it all. I think the thought is coming from teams that look throughout the season like they could not beat anyone and then all of the sudden they are world beaters.....I blame antler spray.

Correlation is not causation. Just because some recent SB winners have come from the wild card round does not mean it gave them any advantage playing that extra week.

Don't care. I still want the 1 seed.

Agreed and don't get me wrong. I think the number 1 seed is a big advantage. I just don't think we need to make it the number 1 priority over health going into the playoffs. Grok doesn't play that last game he is healthy for the Houston game. Rust or no rust, who doesn't think the Ravens game would have at least been closer with Gronk on the field, or Welker a few years back.
