The Texans outfitted in HS Glory jackets and then getting their collective poop pushed in is still one of my favs.

I do agree that the Falcons are feeling the effects of the SB loss, as many teams do. The Falcons almost lost two other games, CHI and Detroit. They could be 1-5 and basically be done for the season a 1/3 of the way into the season.

At the same time though what is Atlanta's true base line as a franchise. Yes they were 11-5 last year and made a solid playoff run. Yes prior to last year they were 4-12, 6-10. 8-8, the three preceding years with some double digit wins prior to those three years.

So did they over achieve and are essentially an 8-8 type team. Whose knows.

I do think they are in a tough battle for their division and need to turn it around.

It funny to think out how many teams the Pats have damage by either just winning, exposing a weakness, or just putting a whooping on a team with a great comeback or upset victory.

On one level or another the Pats have effected the 1998-2000 Rams, Oakland, Pitt, '06 Chargers, Colts, Seattle, Ravens, and Falcons.

here's the thing- all the so-called "experts" wanted to pretend that last year's Falcons were the rebirth of the Greatest Show on Turf. Those teams won 2 conference championships, a Super Bowl, and multiple division titles. On top of that, there was rank desperation by all the mediots for the Falcons to beat the Pats.

Bottom line is this- the Falcons overachieved last year on offense, caught some breaks and ended up going to the Super Bowl. Once there, they caught another break in the Pats team bus not showing up until after half time. Matt Ryan, while not a JAG, is in the Matthew Stafford/Kirk Cousins/Andy Dalton class of QBs...he ain't Brady. hell, he isn't Brees, ManninHGH or even the rapist. Couple that with the most brutal bitch-slapping comeback in SB history and it is an absolute miracle that the Falcons are (currently) .500. I mean, it's pathetic that so many of these knuckleheads in the sports media proclaimed the Falcons to be the "real deal", and "they'll be back" or...and this one is my personal favorite, a headline after a week 1 win at home against Green Bay that the Falcons have put the Super Bowl melt down behind them.

No, they haven't. I said 7-9 this season, still seeing it happen. They have no idea how to fix what is going on right now, and if Snidely Whiplash is smart he'll fire Quinn and blow the whole thing up after this season...but he's not smart so that isn't going to happen. And, given the way the frontrunners all jumped on the Falcon bandwagon, I have no issues with that.

Raiders and Rams are just now recovering from having their hearts torn out at the end of the 2001 season.

We didn't break the Raiders. They were old as f*ck in 2001 (Jerry Rice, Tim Brown, rich Gannon) and was still their owner and senile as hell. THAT'S what they are just now recovering from.

I agree. The Raiders went to the Super Bowl after 2002 season, so 2001 didn't seem to after them at all.

The 2002 playoffs had a couple of interesting wild-card games.

Atlanta takes out Green Bay in Green Bay. They get 3 turnovers off of Brett Favre (2 INTs and a fumble) and keep the ball on the ground (44 rushes vs. 25 passes).

The Jets wipe out the Peyton Manning Colts, 41-0. Time of Possession: 40+ minutes for the Jets, 19+ minutes for the Colts.

When we say we broke a team, I really think we broke their coaching staffs. The play calling Sunday night was head scratching to say the least, because the Atlanta coaches were over-thinking every play. Much like Pagano and the Andrew Luck Colts did with the fake punt game. And even to an extent Seattle, with the pass instead of run play to end that Superbowl. Does Seattle call that play against anyone else? The list goes on and on. Coaches across the league do dumb shit against the Patriots. It is obvious week in and week out.

I hear 100% OZO. Media loves the flavor of the month. I remember when they were all googlee-eye over Rodgers and the Pack winning in 2010, then going 15-1 and all that, and the team laid a turd in the first round of the playoffs, and really have not made the punch so promised.

Falcons are no different perhaps on a lesser scale. I do like Ryan and always thought he was under appreciated to some point, kind of the forgotten one among QBs, but he can have his moments of bad play that brings him down to his norm.

They might of lost to the cowboys in the NFCCG has the boys made it.

I think too they overachieved and glad that we won that game, did not go as planned, but in the end Ryan was kind of like Ryan.

Who knows what will happen, the media loved the paper 3-0 (with two being close wins), and are back peddling now. Atlanta needs to turn it around against the Jets, or things will go south and they will not be able to recover.

i really do not see them winning more than 10 games.

I love the Snidely Whiplash reference :-).

I was there for that Titans game, too. My drink was frozen in seconds!

Enough bad things football-wise can't happen to the Raiders after '76 and '78.

Ah yes, an epic beatdown in primetime, Monday Night Football in front of a national audience, the Texans left with their tails between their legs and then returned 5 weeks later in the playoffs, and got their butts kicked, again. Never been the same since.

Agreed with Oak. i think what can get lost in the shuffle with the feeling sorry for the Raiders and the snow bowl game is the fact that Woodsen hit Brady in the head more so than Sugar Bear hit Stabler, which he did not even hit him.

i am glad that there are a few shows that reference this karma issue.

The tuck rule was the correct call, albeit it being a rough call as it forward pass rule is overly broad and it happened at a time when the game was over. But still a rule is a rule.

Many fans west of the Hudson river feel sorry for the Raiders, but we got hose to and that the Sugar Bear call was not even correct.

The Pats have beaten a lot of teams in the playoffs. Maybe not all in the super bowl, but enough teams at earlier points in the playoffs, or just winning the division, to take out hope of teams and fans who had there one or few year run in the playoffs.

I still feel this is the strongest reason why folks do not like the pats and pats fans.

Amazing that Oakland countered our speed by not cutting the grass for two weeks and soak the field for a couple of days. Not mention the non-call when that DE knuckle punched Russ Francis and broke his nose while standing on the line, and the bad calls: Some Raider actually moving the ball of the spot where the ref put it, and throwing a flag when a Patriot put it back. But the capper for me was Ben ****ing Dreith and his roughing the passer call.

It's been 41 years and I ought to be over it, I know, but I'm still seeking closure on the 42-year old interference call on Fiske by Larry Barnett.
