Willing to bet large amounts of my networth that Merkel isn't gone by Christmas.

May might but currently I doubt it. Trouble with that idea is that the tories can I'll afford to waste three months on a leadership challenge when Brexit deadlines are looming. Also, as terrible as May is, there aren't a lot of credible alternatives. Boris tried. Gove tried. And I don't think there is wholesale interest in Rees-Mogg. Then it might have to be a bit of an outsider, possibly Sajid Javid.

Either way, the point wasn't that I care about the feelings of the German voter or Merkel, just that if the goal is to get Germany to spend more money then bullying is a poor strategy. But perhaps you don't see it as a desirable outcome and would prefer for the US to withdraw completely.

I think Merkel could make it past Christmas, but I wouldn't be shocked if she didn't.

May, on the other hand....she comes back with a Brexit deal that says "The UK agrees to have no representation but be subject to legislation passed by the EU." What the fuck? I think she found the only deal that combines the worst aspects of staying in the EU, and leaving the EU! Somebody definitely has the goods on her, pulling her strings.

As for declaring that London banks have to withdraw from the EU...they can more or less tell her to fuck off. London banks are, for all practical purposes, and independant state all their own. They don't have to agree to anything, really. They'll probably agree on paper, because they can easily skirt whatever restrictions or impositions are attempted by the UK.

And it seems like only yesterday when I was so excited as they were coming in!

Cheers
