BTW, should have warned you, but the onboard casinos have some of the worst payouts of any gambling venue. The cruise line casinos don't have much regulation and they can program the slot machines for lower payouts (rumored to be low to mid 80's% vs. low to mid 90's% for regulated casinos). The ship casinos also massage some of the card game rules to enhance their advantage. Still fun to do, but good payouts are rare.
I played a lot of 3 card poker and got into a few Hold 'Em tournaments and cash games.

The tournaments were a joke. They gave you $2,000 in chips and blinds were 100/200 for the first half hour and went up to 200/400 in the second half hour. Unlimited rebuys in the first hour. After the first hour was up, you could rebuy for twice the initial buy in for the same money (so 4,000 in chips for $100) Blinds went up to 400/800 and then 1000/2000. Unless you were getting cards early, you were either out or rebuying more than once. I did play in three cash games that lasted well past 1:00AM. They were fun. And these were the only games where I came out ahead.

On the first night, a guy hit a Royal Flush on the 6 card bonus option (his three plus the dealers three) in 3 Card. Paid him $5,000 for his $5 investment. Most everyone spent the rest of the cruise chasing that Royal on that bet, myself included.

I was up $700 one day and proceeded to give it all back and then I was up $500 another day and gave it all back and then some.

On the last night, I was saying goodbye to some of the dealers and pit bosses that I had become friendly with during the week. One of the pit bosses actually hugged me. I think he was sorry to see me go.
