What? McCaffrey is a definite weapon. Funchess had an excellent season. Olsen is an All-Pro level tight end.

They had Kelvin Benjamin for half a season, and he was on-pace for close to a 1000 yard season.

He has enough - if he didn't run with it so much, the numbers put up by his receivers would look better.

I could have sworn I saw him running away from defenders on a long TD pass.

Gotta agree with these guys. Even if you want to say that Olsen missed time and Gronk was there for a few weeks, Brady had the misfortune of the nadir coming at the worst possible time.

McCaffrey, Olsen and Funchess are all Newton had yesterday. No running game to speak of.

That's not much.

Benjamin didn't play for the Panthers yesterday.

It's apparent that personal biases get in the way of some people when they watch games. That was a great game by both teams from the start to its dramatic conclusion.

True, but the Panthers gained as many yards in the game as the Saints did, and ran many more plays. And had the edge in time of possession.

Too many FGs instead of TDs (and one key missed FG early) was their doom. They had enough talent around Newton to give the Saints fits.

Oh I don't know about that, I had him on my FF team and he was about as inconsistent as they come. That said, I don't blame that on him, I put that on Newton.

Benjamin was more of a weapon than Funchess was, until he got traded to Buffalo.

Yes and that's a credit to Newton imo. If it weren't for 2 dropped TD passes the Panthers would have won. I can't blame that loss on Newton.

24/40, 350yds, 2 TDs, 0 ints. Not a bad stat line at all.

From PFF
QB Cam Newton, 85.2 overall grade

Newton played one of his best games of the season, firing a number of accurate throws in tight coverage. Newton was on the bad end of some dropped passes, with three total on the day including a would-be touchdown to Kailen Clay in the first quarter. He did most of his damage at the intermediate level of the field, finishing 10-of-12 for 162 yards and a touchdown on throws traveling 10-19 yards in the air.

QB Drew Brees, 85.8 overall grade

Brees threw the ball exceptionally well, hitting on a few deep passes and back-shoulder throws. He completed 10-of-15 passes targeted 10-plus yards downfield for 250 yards. His offensive line certainly helped him out, as he was pressured just 23 percent of his dropbacks, the lowest of any quarterback in the Wild Card round this weekend.

McCaffrey had almost 1100 yards from scrimmage (1086) on a little less than 200 touches (197). For a rookie, that's not too shabby.

For comparison, as a rookie, Le'Veon Bell had about 1250 yards, but on just under 300 touches (289).

I'm not saying McCaffrey is the next Bell, but he'll be a solid player in the league if he stays healthy.

I was talking about Funchess, I highlighted his name from your post that I quoted.

No offense, Chevs, because youíre far and away one of my favorite posters, but are you sure you arenít so defensive about Newton because youíre both Auburn alumni?

I'm not an Auburn alum, and I agree with Chevss. He's an entitled brat, but pretending he sucks because of that, is a little ridiculous.
