They should be afforded a fair hearing with a limited scope of rights. They should be treated fairly. They are, after all, criminals who entered the nation illegally.

Sure it did.

Plus we have generationally low unemployment and are in the middle of an economic boom. That means companies are investing their earnings into business expansions, which leads to more jobs, better pay, etc.

You do understand racism is about the actual races and not a nationality or religion, right?

Meh, I wrote a 4 paragraph response to this but decided a few sentences would suffice. Catch me in 10 years and tell me again that your party isn't about open borders and it's just a small fraction. I said the same thing about the Christian Right faction of the Republican Party about 20 years ago gave up on them 10 years ago when they co-opted the entire god damned thing.

As did I.

You may be right about ten years from now, but I do believe that the majority of democrats do not want open borders.

Except that's not really what's happening. It was the idea, but it isn't panning out. Look at the automotive industry. How about whatever it was that was going to build a facility in Wisconsin and have 13k jobs? That's not happening. Carrier? We know what happened there. I mean, facilities aren't expanding...they're moving, if anything, out of the country.

Better pay? No. That is not happening at all. The economic boom? Inflation is rising, interest rates are increasing, any marginalized wage increase is getting eaten up by inflation, cost of goods increases, and you know where that all leads.

I don't even know where to begin here but your knowledge of economics seems to approach Cortez levels.

Oh, please, Mark.

Here's a lesson for you in basic Econ 101:

stagnant wages and inflation = recession.

Simple enough for you?

You (or whoever is feeding you information) is cherry-picking.

Look at the economy as a whole, for example.

Inflation is tied to interest rates, Lisa. That's what the Fed manipulates to exert control over the economy so that it doesn't grow "too fast". "Too fast" typically means >3% and that's what we've seen so the Fed is trying to reign that in. It has nothing to do with the stimuli you are attempting to tie it to.

Exactly. Now tell me what the inflation increase was. Wages increased 2.8%. So did inflation. And inflation is rising faster than wage increases.

Public university removes white instructor for telling students to ‘be respectful in class’

A white biology instructor who repeatedly warned her students to behave themselves has been yanked out of the classroom for the semester and required to undergo classroom management training.

The University of Texas-San Antonio cleared Anita Moss of showing racial bias toward a black student, who has a history of being disruptive, by calling campus police on her.

But a second investigation faulted the senior lecturer for telling students throughout the fall semester to “be respectful in class” by keeping their feet off chairs, putting away their phones and not talking.

Moss even asked one group of students to separate for the rest of the semester, as they were causing constant disruptions, according to the report by Howard Grimes, interim dean of the College of Sciences.

The student whom Moss called the police on never filed a complaint and has since apologized to the instructor for her behavior...
If we can't agree on fundamental basic social norms for civil behavior in our public interactions we are functionally not a nation or culture. We'll never be able to cooperate, work together, come to concensus. It will become nothing but fighting, resentment, and power struggles. That is no way to live for anyone.

It is BS to assert that all behaviors are equally valid or utilitarian or effective, and therefore acceptable to the group. Sociopathic and spiteful or antagonistic behaviors have no place in basic social exchange. This is entirely independent of any grouping or identity. This is down to the level of the individual, the only TRUE atomic minority "grouping" that is truly representative of its entire membership (of one) by default.
