My favourite drink is anything that allows the New England Patriots players to hydrate properly.

When I was a little guy spending summers on my grandfolks farm in the summer. Haying was a bear. Pitched by fork onto a hay wagon drawn by Harry and Cub, Gramps pair of draft horses, we'ld finish the hours in the sun, and the offloading into the haylofts hot sweating exhausted and covered with slimey itchy chaff.

There was beer for those who wanted it, ice cold in the giant Milk tank with it's constant 34 degree water. And there was my Grandmother with a giant pitcher of the most refreshing plain old lemonade I have ever tasted anywhere. Never had her recipe. It was more technique than recipe anyway.

This is the closet I've come to replicating it and it's damn good. I'm mildly famous for my stolen lemonade recipe. Feel free to re-steal it.

Quote:
5 lemons
5 C water
1.25 C granulated sugar

Peel the rinds from the 5 lemons and cut them into 1/2 inch slices. Set the lemons aside.

Place the rinds in a bowl and sprinkle the sugar over them. Let this stand for about one hour, so that the sugar begins to soak up the oils from the lemons.

Bring water to a boil in a covered saucepan and then pour the hot water over the sugared lemon rinds. Allow this mixture to cool for 20 minutes and then remove the rinds.

Squeeze the lemons into another bowl. Pour the juice through a strainer into the sugar mixture. Stir well, pour into pitcher and pop it in the fridge! Pour over ice cubes.

Cheers, BostonTim

I am a beer snob.

There is no point in trying to deny it.

If craft beers hadn't become a thing I would have quit drinking beer years ago.

My first Sam Adams was like the nectar of the Gods.

Deny what..? The best beers, by quite a huge margin, are the craft beers. Now Corona just has that light summer taste I like. Here's one of the finest craft brews in the land, from western Montana:

I've been drinking my cold brew year round for quite a while. I make 2 batches every night - 1 reg coffee and 1 decaf for my 2nd 'glass'. The days of endless caffeine are long gone for me. I also make my own caramel bc I love it in my coffee and can't stand the store bought stuff. Like you, my answer would have been very different some years back.

I've been to the Kettlehouse tap room several times (in Missoula). I love a good Scotch Ale.

I'm not an iced coffee guy, but I've been using an Aeropress for my 2 to 3 mugs a day since Christmas and it not only makes a fantastic, great-tasting cup of coffee, but it has 1/5th the acid of regular brewed and my stomach can definitely feel the difference.

I like fresh ground Sumatran beans and I've never enjoyed coffee more than I have since trying this impressive device. If I'm on the road and stop for a Honey Dew or something then it now seems inferior. The Aeropress also works great when I'm staying in a hotel. I love that thing.

I make my own cold brew, too. I love the Starbucks Willow or Verona blend with a very coarse grind. I've found that cheesecloth works best to strain it. I can't even drink regular iced coffee anymore.

Don't drink mixed drinks often Tend to stick to scotch mostly.

I used to be a beer snob, still enjoy a quality microbrew, but I'm finding it easier to drink the bigger name, highly marketed beers these days. The dirty little secret is that I've always thought Miller Lite had a great clean taste. These days, O.Z.O. Jr and I are drinking a lot of Bud.
