That '74 team was the foundation for the '76 team.
That's even worse than the year I was thinking about. Looked it up - 1999 (which was NOT the foundation for the 2001 team!)

Funny, through all the lean years, I still had optimism at the start of each season. Wow, we drafted Ken Sims! Here we go now!

Optimism is way better than expectations. For the last 20 years, fans me included expect a superbowl ever year or its the end of the world. Maybe we can have a few years or just having high hopes.

At the time, both seemed like...clockwork, to use your term. I WAS surprised at winning both games, and for me that was the turn-around for the Pats.

It wasn't just the Pats, either. The Red Sox were hot in April-May, cool in July-August, cold in September, and playing golf in October. I remember my father saying they should move the Sox to the Phillipines and rename them the Manilla Folders.

Your time will come. Nothing lasts forever. The Pat will fall from Grace one day. (But not for 15-20 years, after Stidham retires )
Stidham?? ok... lol
I think, if I want to be optimistic, for the Bills last year, it was vs Dallas and Pittsburgh that I saw a flicker of a very good team. Even the Houston Playoff game, til the wheels fell off.

Sorry, couldn't help the Stidham pump-up. You probably haven't noticed that I really think the guy's for real.

Anyway, Bills have been close for a while. You've had a tough run of head coaches (Anthony Lynn I think was the best of them) and haven't been blessed with great ownership. Not to mention weird draftings. Sometimes you guys make Belichick look like Mr. Predictable.

But in spite of all that the Bills are dangerous in an given game, never an automatic out.

You'll get there, and at our expense, eventually. Again, selfishly, hopefully later rather than sooner.

I should have added that while the Bills past drafting and FA signings haven't been very good, Brandon Beane seems to be the answer to that problem.

Stidham is the goat, have you not seen him play? I mean those 4 passes he has had in the NFL are stuff legends are made of. I hear they took a bronze of his arm and its in the hall of fame already. You thought Brady was bad, prepare for losses in the 50 point range. I really cannot see a defense that can stop him to be honest. These receivers are lucky they have him.

The New England Patriots‘ 2019 defense carried the team to a division title and home playoff game, even with an offensive cupboard laid bare. Last year was the only time in the entire decade that Tom Brady’s passing grade dipped below 80 (77.4). Whether it was because of a lack of weapons or simply the beginning of the end for Brady, the passing attack was not what it once was. Still, the team went 12-4 thanks to a historic defensive performance. There have been many iterations of a Bill Belichick defense over the years, but one of the constants has been his willingness to play man coverage.

Since 2015, no team in the NFL has played more snaps of “Cover 1” than the Patriots. Unfortunately, they weren’t particularly good at it from 2015 to 2017. In all three of those seasons, the team allowed a positive EPA/play when running that coverage. But 2018 was a breakout year for the club in man coverage endeavors, as it broke negative with a wildly good -.214 EPA/play in Cover 1. It was the 10th-best mark for a team playing Cover 1 since 2015.
In 2019, the Patriots were even better. A whopping -.341 EPA/play puts them in second place since 2015. They did it all while running the third-most passing snaps in Cover 1 in 2019. Offenses knew what the Patriots were going to do and still couldn’t beat them. In fact, on 80% of their Cover 1 snaps, they showed one high safety pre-snap and played it out like that — no disguised safety rotation.

Who is saying this bullshit, Midgar?
The way you projecting idiocy is just mind blowing.
Literally no one is saying what you posted, but you just keep being you , because you’re incapable of reading and comprehending anything normally .

Hey thanks man I appreciate that. Yeah I know, dont you hate when people do that? I was reading something before I posted that, well here is a quote...hang on.

"Yeah, got it. Tom sucks and you are glad to get rid of him. Like he had nothing to do with all those championships and every loss we had for 20 years was his fault. If you really think we're going to win fifteen superbowls in a row now that he's gone I've got some bad news for you. lol. As soon as a player leaves out come the haters. Sad, really."

You should go up there and repeat what you just told me...You must put a stop to people making those posts intended for people when they say something.

Or....you could take your own advice and stop getting mad when you read something that is not directed toward you. Like you know when you read something from the media? Thanks for your time. Number of the Beast!!

Yeah it was, that seems to be something people do though so I thought I would give it a try. I was responding to a different post. My bad

AS for the other part you just wrote. Do you think teams will start running on the Pats more seeing as how they struggled with that toward the end of the season and with a change over at linebacker, teams
will come out and just try and pound the ball with smaller safeties coming up toward the line?
