The NFL has labeled that as the only window of time the Patriots could have tampered, as that is the only time the balls weren't in front of cameras to be monitored.

Lets break down that time frame.

-Put both bags of balls on the floor (4 seconds)
-Open up Patriots bag (2 seconds)
-Take out all Patriots ball (12-18 seconds)
-Take out deflating equipment (3 seconds)
-Deflate each ball precisely as Tom likes them (5-7 seconds each), 60-84 seconds
-Put all balls back in the bag (12-18 seconds)
-Grab bags and leave restroom (3 seconds)

That's a total of 96-110 seconds, estimating.

That's roughly how long I'd estimate it would take to do it, if the ball boy was a 18-40 year old, going as fast he possibly can.

Problems with this theory
-Depending on how "elderly" this man is, it could take substantially longer
-Based on those estimates it's theoretically feasible, reasonably illogical
-The ballboy would have to be rushing as fast he can for no reason
-Belichick, Brady, and Kraft would all have to be knowingly willing to put millions of dollars, their legacies, and their good names on the line, trusting that a ball boy won't squeel (either under pressure or under the circumstance that he would be able to make TONS of money off the publicity)

This isn't even addressing how doctoring footballs is a common practice, texture of slickness is far more important in gripping a football, and so on.

Leave it to the collective stupidity of legendary losers like Brunnell, Faulk, and Carter to make this (an accusation with zero conclusive evidence) a humongous issue when we won the game 45-7.
I still think the NFL rep approved the balls, and the balls went to the field as approved. We've heard the psi was not logged by the official. But the NFL guy must have used a gauge on the balls. It was the AFCCG after all. Not the time to give them a squeeze and say "good enough". We've also heard that most of the balls were only a tick under the acceptable range, and that the minor difference CAN be attributed to the difference in conditions between the locker room and the playing field. We've also head the Colts' balls were within the acceptable range (were they also checked at the half-time?), but because they were not logged either, we can't say where they started out. If they started out on the high side of the acceptable range, they very well could have been within the range at half-time. If the Patriots' balls started out at the low end, they very well could have been under at half-time.

IMO this all falls on the NFL. No way in hell Kraft, BB and TFB go on record claiming no knowledge of any funny business if there was anything at all going on.

It really only comes down to how the NFL decides to act on what little info they have.

Assuming there isn't some smoking gun we aren't aware of, then here is what we have

1 Ball that was distinctly below the min, 10 balls that were in a nebulous region that we aren't aware of.

If we assume that most or all of the 10 can be explained by the effects of weather that leaves one ball, the NFL can then say "you have one ball that was too low, here's a 20k fine" or they can say "well we can't really verify the chain of custody on this ball so we're clearing you of wrongdoing" and make no mistake, they can go which eve way they want, because goodel is a turd blossom.

if that one ball was the one the Colts intercepted, I can't see the NFL being able to fine the Pats. Not saying colts did anything, but that just doesn't past the "smell test".
My feeling is there can be no fine unless they can prove something. if they come out say, "pats did nothing, balls are fine, just effects on weather" then deflategate goes away except for the ardent haters who will just say Kraft and Roger are buddies.
even a small fine will "justify" deflategate and Pats will have that hanging over them.

If the League somehow can prove this was a set-up from another team (Indy, Baltimore, whomever), I'd imagine there would be hell to pay, especially when it comes out that the Pats didn't do anything.

IF Indy, deflated that one ball and told the ref and there was proof. Oh boy. Talk about get your ready

that could be the case and they could even have a confession but Rog would never go public with that info and the poopstorm it would cause

That would be an epic showdown of power between Roger and Kraft. That would be absolutely tremendous.

I agree, would never let that go public. I don't think Kraft would either even if he found out about it but Kraft would most certainly demand a complete public apology to the Pats.

I think they need to find a way to clear the Patriots if that happens and more than an apology would be required.

The Jets' 1st rnd pick for tampering would do.

I'm not so sure.

I keep going back to Kraft's hard stare at Rog during the trophy ceremony and I think that he feels like he's been a team player with the league and Roger rewarded him by playing fvcky-fvck with him like he was just another schlub.

I think he's absolutely had it and will not be part of any attempt to hide info regardless of whether or not it may further damage the league's reputation.

Think of it this way: Kraft's team has been accused of enough skullduggery to last him the rest of his life and even if he wanted to go along with a cover-up to save them another major scandal he can never feel secure that it wouldn't come back to bite him in the ass. Especially given the NFL's tendency to leak like a sieve.

I think whatever trust there may have been is broken. Krafty's not playing ball anymore.

is a non-factor. Kraft wouldn't say anything because of his respect for the NFL and because of his enormous investment in the Pats. Kraft isn't the least bit concerned about .

I'm fairly worried that the nfl doesn't feel compelled to prove anything and will be happy to hand out a small punishment to save face

The days of protecting are over as far as Kraft's concerned. He'll gladly let him swing going forward.

I agree. Just from reading the tea leaves (obviously I don't know the guy personally), I'd guess he feels like he really took one for the team (NFL and the new commish at the time, not our Pats) during the Spygate resolution, but knowing what he knows now about what that whole thing became he maybe regrets it. Now he sees that whole thing starting to roil up again and he said no more! Not this time!
