That reminds me. It's hard to find a decent docent.

They did?

I don't remember that, but I hadn't been there in years. Too bad when that closed down. That was sad.

Yep, up in the balcony section of the Great Hall. Somewhere floating in the T&G archives is a photo of me in full plate armor.

It's brilliant.

All the mass murderers and criminals will just turn in their guns. All you have to do is write it down on a piece of paper. Just like posting "No Guns" signs keeps murderers and criminals out. Works every time.

Just like making drugs illegal eliminates all drug problems, and prohibition stops people from drinking and ends gang violence, and making prostitution illegal means no prostitutes.

Oh, and passing a piece of paper that says "you can't drink and drive" puts an end to drunk driving.

Site of Thousand Oaks Mass Shooting a Gun-Free Zone

by AWR HAWKINS 9 Nov 2018

The site of the Thousand Oaks, California, mass shooting was a state-mandated gun-free zone.

Breitbart News reported that former U.S. Marine Ian David Long opened fired in the Borderline Bar & Grill on Wednesday, killing 12 people. He used a “legally-purchased” handgun to carry out his attack.

Crime Prevention Research Center’s (CPRC) John R. Lott reported that the Borderline Bar & Grill was a gun-free zone by law. CPRC posted a California Department of Justice Bureau of Firearms form explaining that the state of California prohibits the carrying of firearms “in a place having a primary purpose of dispensing alcoholic beverages for on-site consumption.”

The state-mandated gun-free status of places serving alcoholic beverages to be consumed guaranteed that Ian Long would not have to worry about patrons shooting back once he began his attack.

In this way, the gun-free status of the bar played to his favor, and such gun-free policies have been benefiting criminals for over 60 years. CPRC reports that 97.8 percent of “mass public shootings” from 1950 to 2015 occurred in gun-free zones.

The February 14, Parkland high school shooting, the May 18, Sante Fe high school shooting, and the attack on Borderline patrons, show gun-free zones are still the attractive target.

Gun Free Zones are Safe Spaces for killers.

Instead of "Gun Free Zone", they should just put up signs that say "No return fire zone".

It is not funny. It is pretty bizarre. So, there are more shooting and gun crime in Chicago than virtually anywhere in the nation. It would be generous to say the police are only ineffective at stopping gun violence. So, a security guard actually accomplishes the task of stopping at least one incidence of gun crime. What happened next?...You guessed it, the police shot the security guard. If they were going to kill someone, why couldn't it be a criminal, not the hero?

As the old sayin' goes, you can't make this stuff up.

Police Allegedly Shoot, Kill Security Guard Who Stopped Bar Shooting

Police in the Chicago suburb of Midlothian allegedly shot and killed a security guard who had stopped a bar shooting and was holding a suspect at gunpoint.

WGN reports that a group of men was asked to leave Manny’s Blue Room Bar in Robbins, IL, at about 4 a.m. Sunday. One of the men who had been asked to leave allegedly re-entered the bar at opened fire. At that point, 26-year-old armed security guard Jemel Roberson returned fire then went outside to hold the suspect for police.

Witnesses said that police arrived to find that Roberson “had somebody on the ground with his knee in his back, with his gun on him like, ‘Don’t move.'” One of the officers allegedly opened fire and killed Roberson.

CBS Chicago reported that “Midlothian police and Cook County Sheriff’s officials confirmed officers from several agencies responded to the shooting, and a Midlothian police officer shot an armed person at the scene, who turned out to be a security guard.”

The Cook County Sheriff’s Office said the security guard had a Firearm Owners Identification card, which allowed him to own a gun, but he allegedly did not have a concealed carry license.

According to the Associated Press, Roberson’s mother has filed a lawsuit seeking “$1 million from the community and the officer, whose name has yet to be released.”

They killed the hero because he was a black man with a gun. Of course, Breitbart conveniently left that out.

My point was the irony. The police in the Chicago area can't seem to kill any of the bad guys but they can kill the good ones. No deep dark meaning. No racial overtones. No bias. No politics. Just a simple observation of a shooting event without a deep dive.

BTW, the story had an image of the guy so Breitbart didn't leave it out at all. They just didn't make race the the entire thrust or basis of the story like all left wing media that you read does.

Further, no one jumped to a conclusion about motive other than you with your "because he was a black man" comment.

Here come the Democrats with more gun grabbing legislation. Luckily the GOP still holds the senate so it will never pass.

Clearly aimed at 80% even though named 3D.

Also, they want to ban parts?

Looks to be machine gun part kits and "assault" weapon parts kits but this is the kicker:

Quote:
(4) the term “semiautomatic assault weapon” means—
(A) a semiautomatic rifle or semiautomatic shotgun that has the capacity to accept a detachable ammunition feeding device
So my Ruger 10/22 would be considered an assault rifle under this bill.

Yeah, that's any magazine fed handgun which is far and away the most in circulation.

Yeah, that is some total horseshit. It's a ridiculous definition for semiautomatic rifles. But once that definition becomes ingrained into law I fear it won't be long before it becomes the accepted definition as far as lawmakers are concerned, and can then be used to redefine and reclassify other firearms.
