Gotta love the Browns being a factor in that division. 1-0-1 in the AFC North. Steelers 0-1-1. Ravens 1-2, Bengals 1-0.

And crooked ass Gene Steratore, the CBS "rules expert" supported that call. Like that guy has never been on the take.

I thought the AFC South was supposed to be oh so tough this year. All those teams are pretty bad.

The only good thing about winning on Thursday, is like being at Foxwoods at 4AM with nobody around. You walk down an isle putting money in each slot machine then turn around and just watch for money to spit out.

Pete Carroll made the dumbest decision I've witness in 30 years of fanhood, a call that dwarfs eschewing Marshawn in SB 49.

A minute and change to go in the 4th, down by 2 points and you just made a critical 3rd down stop by mere inches. You have one remaining TO, so a conversion would have ended the game. The clock stopped for a measurement, so whatever your opponent decides on 4th, they can only run off 25 seconds before snapping rather than the usual 45. By some miracle, you get exactly what you want; the punt unit trots onto the field.

What does Petey do? Calls a TO, of course.

It's hard to explain how stupid this is. It's literally something that would be embarrassing if done in a peewee league. Given the reduced run off, the TO is at least as valuable to your offense as it was there, and there is nothing you could possibly need to say to the punt unit, you had plenty of time during the measurement and they should be playing the fake either way. No, the only material change a TO offers is for the opponent to reconsider their decision and avoid making such an obvious tactical error. Which is exactly what happened.

Simply astounding.

Perfect little side story - Beast-mode all upset yesterday when Derek Carr, on the one yard line, first and goal...

Dumb yes.

But not in the same stratosphere as Beast Mode at the 1.

That decision cost a SB.

And broke the DNA of that team. Could’ve trampolined off that as the next dynasty.

Little more important than an October match.

Agreed. As soon as Petey called that time out I knew McVay would change his mind and go for it.

You're looking at it based on the results, I'm viewing at in real time.

Not running Marshawn on second down isn't even all that controversial. To ensure you had all four downs available, Seattle had to pass on 2nd or 3rd down and if they ran on 2nd, then 3rd would be an obvious passing down. The bigger error here was calling not one but two TOs on that drive with a stopped clock and then waiting so long to get the ball snapped on 2nd down. Those are the mistakes that created the situation, but once there passing was perfectly reasonable.

Taking a TO when a waffling McVay gave you a gift is just profoundly stupid at that moment. He either thought McVay was committed to punting or that his team was going to stop a two inch gain, both of which were faulty in real time.
