I'm sure you were calling that "plain idiocy" at the time.
Hamilton is a great hire. I'll just leave it at that.

But a fan from Colts.com says otherwise!

Not any fan but a "knowledgable" Colts fan.

This Stanford guy isn't a Colts fan at all. He's a Luck fan that dropped by to share his view. Nothing more, nothing less.

I went & checked it out.

Also Freaks > colts.com.

Did you even comprehend what the discussion was? I think not.

Pep was the OC at Stanford. I posted a Stanford/Colts' fan view on Pep, that he wasn't a very good OC.

OSU, who apparently knows more than a Stanford fan, then stated that Pep didn't even call plays; Shaw did.

My question remains: why would an NFL team want a guy as OC if he didn't function as one at the college level?

I understood the discussion plenty. Unlike you, I've actually done research on the guy and have formed an opinion, as opposed to just randomly relying on some messageboard poster that said what you wanted to hear.

Would you like me to post you opinions from other Stanford fans that talk about how he's an up-and-comer and a very bright young mind?

OSU did indeed know more than the Stanford fan, as he posted a fact that the Stanford fan seemed oblivious to.

While Hamilton isn't the primary play-caller for the Stanford offense (David Shaw is), he's the Red Zone guru of the offensive staff, the quarterbacks coach, and an excellent recruiter -- in fact, he's the guy who gets the credit for bringing Kevin Hogan to the Farm. When you mix all of his strengths together, well, those are the kind of skills that make you into a hot coaching candidate.

For the same reason that anyone hires an Offensive Coordinator that doesn't have any prior play-calling experience.

Again I ask you, did you think it was "plain idiocy" when the Patriots did it with Josh McDaniels? I mean, he "didn't even function as one at the college level".

Is there ever a scenario in your mind where a guy should be promoted? Jesus, it's like the concept of a promotion is a completely alien concept to you. Pep Hamilton has 9 years NFL coaching experience. You're acting like he's never been in the pro's and that he's merely had a couple years of no-responsibility college coaching.

In other news.

Pat Shurmur will be the OC in Philly.

Former Colts OC Tom Moore is going with Arians to Arizona.

PC,
With Hamilton running the O, do you think Indy will have an offense with WCO principles?

I could see a SF style O when Smith was qb1, & Luck is waaaaaaaaay better than Smith.
