Thank you all. It was a pretty good experience, but I'm glad it's over. I even told wifey and she approved of the idea which is rare since she thinks I am completely insane regarding football. She actually sounded a little proud of me.

I will say that I have no idea how my brother was so cool on HBO. That must have been utterly nervewracking.

HE has iron testicles.
Guess it just runs in the family then huh.

Yeah.... You sit out. Hawg could just ignore his Mod duties and let the other 25 odd Mods carry the slack. :p

My brother was interviewed for both the "Curse of the Bambino" and it's sequel on HBO.

He is Jerry Thornton who posts here as IT's_Good_It's_Good.

If you have seen the show he is the handsome feller who imitated Vin Scully's call of Bill Buckner making his ill-fated boot and a few other snappy lines.

He also quoted a line lifted from the Planet in the sequel where he compared the Sox beating the Yankees to Ralphie kicking the crap out of bully Scott Farkus from "A Christmas Story" and it got the biggest laugh at the premiere in Boston.

I guess his background as a standup comic has pretty much made him bulletproof to normal nervousness.

Once you learn to handle drunken hecklers with ease (believe me, he did) then I guess a little national TV spot wouldn't be too bad.

I listened live, but also just downloaded the mp3.

A couple of my favorite lines.

Quote:
Radio Guy: "Do you think the Jets have a legitimate shot at knocking off the Patriots?"

Hawg: "As currently constituted, no".
-------------------------

Radio Guy: " If they get Randy Moss, which is a slight possibility, do you see it changing big time?"

Hawg: "Haha. NO! If you want to deal with Randy Moss. If the Jets wanna do that, they have my blessings."

I was disappointed that Hawg's accent was not more egregious, after reading the comments in this thread.

They contacted the Planet and Hawg was selected to do the interview. The topic was essentially fan response to the interviewer's article and related Patriots topics in the aftermath of another superbowl victory.

At least that's my understanding. UT will set me straight if I'm wrong.

That was it in a nutshell.

They wanted someone involved in running the site and nobody could do it due to work concerns, but I had the time.

As it turns out they never asked anything about the site or internet forums and it was over before I could figure out a way to bring it up.

I only had an idea of a couple of things they ended up asking me--the Pats-Jets border war being one-- which related to his article on Belichick being a sleazeball.

I was better off on the stuff I wasn't expecting because I didn't have a chance to play it out in my head. Public speaking is always like that-- don't plan anything.

After you hung up they mentioned the Planet by name a few times and said that it was a pretty well run site and really coming up well... They actually said something about it being one of the best Pats site on the net, or something to that effect.

Yeah, my email is listed as the Administrative contact for the board so they emailed the invite to me. I am not sure where they first heard about the board. The five of us talked it over and because of work, football knowledge, and testicles, we decided that Hawg would be the best choice to represent The Planet. And, boy were we right.
