What is the source?

I'm a bit skeptical until it's official. Danny himself recently admitted that he really wanted to stay, which is not what you say if you are looking for maximum dollars.

Key loss if it is true. Danny is money.

This is the first off season I felt like the Pats wouldn't re-sign him.
I really can't blame the Pats.

DA was great during the 2018 playoffs, granted, but his regular season stats were pedestrian. It was obvious to me that some team would make him an offer the Pats wouldn't come close to matching.

Look at his stats...not nearly as good as you might think.

Trying to confirm the report from @DanHellie that Danny Amendola is signing with Miami. Amendola is in the Bahamas right now ... until we hear otherwise, I'd presume Hellie got it right.

Gronky3000 is on a distinguished roadGronky3000 is on a distinguished road
Now it's time to look at the slot options, options to replace one of our best players, not statistically, but when it counts.

Do we look to free agency or the draft for a replacement, and if so, who?

My options?

Top choice:
While discussing the 10 receivers he's most excited to see during the NFL Scouting Combine, NFL Network Analyst Steve Smith compares Miami WR Braxton Berrios to Danny Amendola and Julian Edelman.
Smith acknowledges his bias to the shorter receivers, and considering how productive he was despite being "undersized," we can't fault him. Barrios was impressive during Senior Bowl practices, with Smith's colleague Bucky Brooks calling him the ultimate slot receiver. "Berrios can play all over the field and makes tough catches look easy," he writes. "I love what he brings to the table and is capable of being the next Danny Amendola or Julian Edelman. A lot of scouts focus on what players can't do, but if they look at what he can do, they'll be pleasantly surprised." If Berrios runs a quality time at the combine, it will do wonders for his draft stock

NFL.com Analyst Bucky Brooks calls Miami WR Braxton Berrios "the ultimate slot receiver" after watching him in Senior Bowl practices.
While slot receiver is still considered by some to be a "specialist" position, this is still quite the compliment. "While [Berrios is] a little undersized, he has exceptional short-area quickness and burst," Brooks writes. "He has a knack for getting open. He's fearless over the middle of the field, and you see that in drills." As more and more teams use multiple-receiver sets, this should help the 5-foot-9, 187-pound wideout substantially

Second option:
Pro Football Focus's analysis team lists Texas Tech WR Keke Coutee as one of the most versatile offensive players available in the draft class.
Coutee put up massive numbers at Texas Tech, which is nothing new considering the pass-happy scheme the Red Raiders run. What makes Coutee unique is how he was able to put up his numbers. "He ranked eighth in the nation with 542 yards on deep passes last season despite tying for only 114th in deep targets," they write. [B]"He was a dominant slot receiver for Texas Tech, ranking second in the nation with 1,088 yards from the slot and he has plenty of slot value at the next level." The ability to beat defenders deep and also run across the middle in the slot will make Coutee a highly-scouted prospect up until draft

and I feel John Brown should be a great option to consider http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/9649/john-brown

The sky isn't falling.
He'd be coming back as the 4th or 5th WR at 32.
The O will be great again.

I can't wait to see the chunk of cash Miami is overpaying for him.

Only Patriot over 70% completion rate.

61 catches on 86 targets.

Your boy Cooks only had 65 catches. Required a heavy 114 targets to get those 4 extra catches.

Maybe DA would’ve had some really good numbers if he had that many targets.

If we sign Solder and draft for depth.

Well this sucks. Probably not so much from a productions standpoint as the fact that one of our playoff heroes is going to the effing Doophins.
