The #Ravens are expected to sign #Redskins FA WR Ryan Grant, source said. It’s a 4-year deal worth $29M with $14.5M guaranteed, source said. He gets a $10M signing bonus.

My first thought as well. I actually didn't know there was a WR named Ryan Grant.

Sorry but....Solder the highest paid tackle in the NFL?? That’s a joke. I liked him, a good guy but that’s madness. He’s no Andrew Whitworth.

The Patriots have been eternally correct in staying out of thee crazy money grabs.

Ok, BB, Here's your cue

Tyrann Mathieu is an unrestricted free agent, and he says breaking the bank is not his top priority.
Mathieu told Albert Breer of SI.com that when choosing his next team, he’s going to choose the team that he thinks will make him the best player he can be, while playing on the best team he can play on.
“It’s not all about money for me,” he said. “I want to go somewhere where I can be completely immersed in football, and it’s not too much about anything but winning. I want to be a part of winning culture, where you feel that all the time. That’s all I want.”
The Cardinals missed the playoffs the last two years, and now they’ll have a new coaching staff, and so Mathieu declined the team’s request that he take a pay cut. He’ll shop himself, not necessarily to the highest bidder, but to the team where he thinks he’s going to have the best chance to be a big part of a winner.

Still only 25.

Kid was a total ball hawk. Playmaker second to none coming out.

Bill could do something with this kid.

Agreed. Would be a huge addition to the secondary. Although honestly this D needs far more help elsewhere :(

As business decisions, letting each of these guys walk makes sense.

As a fan, it's hard to watch the #3-4 WR (who has been nothing but clutch), the #1 RB, starting LT and #2 corner leave while bringing in a defensive lineman who failed in Cleveland, while at the same time our all-world TE seems uncommitted to playing football next year 2 months into the off-season. Oh and our GOAT QB is 41 years old and talking about the end of his career after we traded away the heir apparent.

I know, patience.

Maybe a bunch of hungry young kids will come in and kick ass.

Maybe they'll draft the next QB this year.

On the bright side, we still play in the AFC East, so even with all that the over/under is still the AFCCG.

I wouldnt classify Shelton as a "failed" draft pick. He has started 44 of his 46 career games in his 3 years in the NFL. He'll turn 25 during training camp. He plays a position and has a role that doesnt traditionally accrue a ton of stats. The Browns were seventh in the NFL last year in rushing yards given up per game, and second in yards per rush, two areas the Patriots were not good in (21st and 31st respectively). He is not going to get a ton of sacks. But we all know what getting a push up the middle can do to a QB. Comparing him to Vince Wilfork isnt fair, because Big Vince is a future HOFer and Shelton is 24 and 3 seasons into his NFL career. But im guessing thats what the Patriots are going to ask him to do.

Here is what future HOF'er Joe Thomas said about the trade on a podcast right after the trade was announced:

“They didn’t feel like he fit well with Gregg Williams’ defense, which it’s hard to argue,” said Thomas. “You know, Danny is one of those traditional run-stoppers. He’s a big, stout guy. He doesn’t move laterally really well. He’s not an up-the-field, penetrating-type guy, which is what Gregg Williams wants with this 4-3 attacking defense."

“But he does fit in New England,” Thomas continued. “New England likes those big two-gappers that can put two hands into the chest of a center or a guard, read the football, shed and try to make a play down the line of scrimmage. I think that’s actually another good fit for Danny.”

The 6-foot-2, 335-pound Shelton started 44 of his 46 games for Cleveland while playing 53 percent of the defensive snaps and collecting 128 tackles and 1.5 sacks. He was the 35th-best interior defender (and top 20 vs the run) in the league in 2017, according to Pro Football Focus. And he was, in terms of run enforcement, no small part in why the Browns conceded 3.4 yards per attempt last season.

Good chance we re-sign Jonathan Casillas. I liked him when he was here, and he played well with the Giants.

Also, TE Assange Cleveland. Pat's didn't want to lose him to start with, so now they may have the chance to bring him back and add depth at the position.

Just a thought, but with Dion gone, anyone think we ought to bring Woodhead in for a look?

It was a no brainer last time that he was available too though. Maybe if the brothers agree to a 2 for 1 type contract Bill will sign off on it.
