A trade for a WR may be in the works for a player of Tate's ability according to Zolak.

My thoughts: If it's Detroit the 2 I'd target are Golden Tate and Marvin Jones.
Of the 2 Tate would be the most expensive obviously but Marvin Jones is close to Tate in terms of production and may be a great option to Tate. Both players had just over 1,000 yds last year.

Tate. 1003 yds, 11 yd avg, 5 TDs
Jones. 1101 yds, 18 yd avg, 9 TDs

Tate is 30
Jones is 28

I have no idea if Detroit would trade either of them.
If not, TJ Jones is another possibility.

Probably going to have to do something though. Even with Edelman back, it's not the scariest of WR groups and depth is pretty meh.

I'll believe it when a source other than Zolak reports on it.

From what I've read, Jones is more of a one-trick, deep-threat pony. If true, I doubt he'd be the target unless cost steers them in that direction.

Ugh.

Lombardi went to Cleve and we started getting all those Clevey players.

Patricia goes to Detroit. Are we going to start to get all those Detroit guys?

Takes a lot of scrubbing to get that Cleve and Det off.

Sheard and The Little One were nice. I got no complaints.

BTW, NE didn't start poaching Cleveland until after Lombardi came here, so the two aren't as similar as they first appear.

We did get Van Noy from the Lions and I could argue that for the price he has been a very solid addition.

He could be added to the list of guys that busted out elsewhere and got good in Foxboro.

They both have some talented players that might not have been used correctly...

I look at Belichick's presser answers for enlightenment:

Q: Is this one of the busiest weeks in terms of trade talks between teams?
A: "There's a lot of talking. We'll see how much actually gets done. Again, you can talk about things - that's fairly common. To actually find something that works for one team, that works for the other team, that both teams want to do, is less common, but I'm sure it's going to happen. And, again, at this point in time, it's a little bit of a make an educated guess as to who's going to be available and who isn't. If you feel like you have to trade for a player to get the player, then you're more likely to make the trade. If you think you can get the player without trading for him, or if you have two or three players that if you get any one of those you'd feel like that would help your team and doesn't necessarily have to be one particular one, then maybe you're not as anxious to trade and you wait and see what's available. Like I said, if you get any one of two or three guys, then you feel like you're alright, then you're less inclined to make the trade. I think it's all very specific - your team, your needs, the player, what the compensation is, the contract. There's a lot of things, and then it has to fall in place going the other direction, too - the other team getting another player with comparable value, draft pick, salary, so forth. So, there's a lot more talking than there is trading."

Bolded the part that seems particularly fitting. It seems more likely to me that Belichick is looking for a "Tate-esque" player from 2-3 options than it is that he's looking for Golden Tate, specifically, so I'm not convinced he's in a rush to make that trade.
