Cardinals coach Bruce Arians knows how to coach quarterbacks. He wrote the book on it. Literally.
The Quarterback Whisperer, officially released next Tuesday, has plenty of interesting stories from Arians’ lifetime in football, as both a quarterback and a coach of quarterbacks.
Here’s one that justifies a blurb of its own. Arians, serving as the quarterbacks coach in Indianapolis early in Peyton Manning’s career, showed a willingness few have to be blunt and candid with Peyton.

During a 1999 game against the Patriots, the Colts trailed badly. “Midway through the fourth quarter of the game, with the outcome already decided, Peyton was so frustrated that he asked for mercy,” Arians writes. “He wanted to be pulled from the game.”
Arians refused, in a colorful way.
‘”F–k no, get back in there,’ I told him,” Arians explains. “‘We’ll go no-huddle and maybe you’ll learn something. You can never ask to come out. You’re our leader. Act like it.'”`

Correction for the "Peyton-never-had-a-defense" crowd.
He had a top-10 scoring and/or total defense 8 times.
6 one & dones.

Imagine that? Mr. silver spoon crybaby wanted to tap out? That explains all the one and dones, I guess.

Gotta love Jim Mora, always one of my all time favorite personalities. Hating NaPolian is just the icing on the cake.

Former Colts coach Jim Mora won’t return for Peyton Manning’s statue ceremony

Former Colts coach Jim Mora said he won’t return to Indianapolis for Peyton Manning’s statue ceremony.

Mora said Manning invited him to the Oct. 7 unveiling in front of Lucas Oil Stadium, which includes a jersey retirement and a spot in the team’s ring of honor. But Mora, 82, apparently still holds bitter feelings about the way his four seasons in Indianapolis ended.

“I told him I wasn’t going to come,” Mora said in an interview with Indianapolis’ WNDE radio show via the Indianapolis Star. “I had reasons. I would love to come back there, but because of the way I left the Colts, my relationship with [former general manager Bill] Polian, I don’t know. I just wouldn’t feel that I would feel comfortable being there.”

Mora said the Colts fired him after the 2001 season when he refused to fire defensive coordinator Vic Fangio.

“That’s exactly true,” Mora said. “I didn’t walk away, though. I got fired. It was either fire Vic or fire me. I was asked by Bill Polian — I was told by Bill Polian — he wanted me to fire Vic Fangio. I said, ‘Well, he doesn’t deserve to be fired.’ He’s an outstanding coach, was then and he still is. So we had talks with [owner] Jim Irsay, it came down, and I wouldn’t do it.

“I couldn’t fire a friend or a coach that I felt was very qualified that didn’t deserve to be fired. So I got fired. That was it.”

There is just so MUCH to hate about Polian. Good for Mora.

A statue ceremony, really? This is right up there with the banners ...

It's weird he was invited at all, especially by peypey.
He wasn't a great head coach, and I'd hate to have a ranter as my hc but I love his personality aside from that. And his rants were hilarious. "Playoffs" isn't even in the top 3.
And he was right about Fangio.

Pretty sure a statue would be abhorrent to TB and BB, and I love that about them.

Brady Stunk Up The SB

When, oh when, will "sports analysts" quit walking in funeral procession for Brady?

http://boston.cbslocal.com/2017/07/0...of-the-season/

All kinds of brilliant guys have been predicting his "decline" for at least 5 years now. Eventually, one day they'll be right, but in the meantime don't they have anything better to do than wait for the year it finally comes and crow I WAS FIRST! They need to get real jobs weaving belly button lint into pot holders or something useful.

Brady has his best season throwing the deep ball. If anything, his arm looks stronger to me. I mean it takes a pretty dense reporter to look at last season and try to say Brady was declining given he posted the best season of his career in terms of efficiency with PFF given him their highest mark ever for a QB.

Then to use the Super Bowl of all games as evidence of a decline is just ridiculous. In one paragraph he dismisses Brady's brilliant performance vs the Steelers because their defensive game plan was so bad and then the next paragraph gives zero credit to Atlanta's defense for having a great game plan.

It is articles like these which such a tremendous bias and no balance that is symptomatic of what is wrong with our media.

Put 'em inside Patriots HOF, fine. Or inside the stadium in some display. I don't care for the idea of them outside the stadium. Then again, I don't care to see TFB's # retired either.

Statues are old school. BB will probably want one. Brady will have a 30 foot tall hologram hovering over the stadium 24/7.
