DeMarcus Milliner, Alabama: The draft's top cornerback was fast out of the gate, opening his workout with a 40 time of 4.37 seconds. He carried that athleticism into the position drills, displaying terrific ball skills and the ability to move in every direction with speed. Milliner leaves the combine secure as a top-10 selection.
Desmond Trufant, Washington: Trufant entered the combine as a potential first-round pick after an outstanding Senior Bowl performance, and he cemented his position in the top 32 with a terrific all-around workout. His 40 time of 4.38 seconds ranked as a top-five mark and during drills Trufant displayed NFL-caliber footwork, hip movement and ball skills.
Darius Slay, Mississippi State: Slay has been building buzz the past three months and he showed why the league is excited about his potential. At 6-foot, 192 pounds, he posted a swift 4.36 seconds in the 40. He later completed all of his drills with balance, speed and efficiency. NFL franchises see a next-level starter.
Jamar Taylor, Boise State: Add Taylor's name to the defensive backs moving up the charts. His 40 time of 4.39 ranked with the best of the corners, and his 22 reps in the bench press were the highest at the position. His performance during position drills was flawless. Taylor will quickly come off the board on day two of the draft.

Tyrann Mathieu, LSU: The maligned cornerback had his moments Tuesday. His testing results were middle of the pack, with a 4.50 in the 40, a vertical jump of 34 inches and a broad jump of 9 feet, 9 inches. His bench-press mark of four reps was downright embarrassing. Mathieu picked up the pace during position drills, displaying an array of ball skills that are NFL-worthy. Where will Mathieu fall in the draft? Short cornerbacks (he measured under 5-9) with average athleticism and a laundry list of off the field woes rarely make it into the initial three rounds of the draft, so expect Mathieu's name to be called on the final day.
Jonathan Banks, Mississippi State: Banks' game speed had been questioned by scouts, and his 40 time of 4.61 seconds will raise more red flags.
Aaron Hester, UCLA: Hester's workout marks of 4.62 seconds in the 40 and a vertical jump of 29 inches are troublesome. During drills, he displayed limited quickness and a lot of stiffness.
Robert Lester, Alabama: Lester was another who looked marginally athletic during the workout posting marks of 4.66 seconds in the 40 and 33.5 inches in the vertical jump. He looked more like a linebacker than a defensive back. The results will push Lester into the draft's later rounds.
Notes: There were a number of good performances by defensive backs worthy of mention: David Amerson of North Carolina State, who combined for 18 interceptions the past two seasons, quieted concerns about his lack of speed by clocking the 40 in 4.44. Fellow ACC defensive back Xavier Rhodes of Florida State also looked terrific in the workout. Rhodes ran 4.43 in the 40, posted 40.5 inches in the vertical jump and had a broad jump that measured 11 feet.

Haden is a stud. I have no clue why he doesn't get more love from KNOWLEDGEABLE sportswriters (ie ones who don't just fawn over "names").
