The Jests don't have to *try* to go in the tank.

Nothing like banking your future on a QB from USC ... the Jests will totally beat the Browns to the punch on this one.

Regarding Jimmy G, I recall seeing something a few weeks ago that speculated that the reason BB hasn't pulled the trigger on a trade involving a high 1st round draft choice, is that he doesn't think there's the talent there to be worth it.

I don't recall if this was in regards to Cleveland's pick at #12 or an earlier pick.

That is possible. The question is, what value are you going to get for Jimmy when he becomes an URFA next year? Once he has #12, he might be able to trade down and stock picks for next year. There are a lot of talented players to be had in the 2nd round this year at Edge, DB, and TE.

If we get 12 I'm sure BB moves it for next years 1 from someone he figures will suck real bad, and the league collectively loses its shit as we end up with 1 overall.

The USC kid groomed for 3-4 more years of late vintage TB.

He always had to sign his tender before he could get traded, but he doesn't have to do it by Friday. He can sign it in May and still get traded.

April 21 has nothing to do with trading. April 21 is just the last day he can talk to other teams about getting them to sign him to a contract.

He now has until June something or other (21?) to sign his tender or the Pats can reduce his salary to 10% more than he made last year. If that happens, he can sit out until week 10.

There isn't a good reason after Apr 21 not to sign the tender because sign or not, he can't talk to other teams any more.

I agree with that last sentence but I REALLY hope SHerman isn't part of his plans.

You are correct and it needed clarification. But as you say there is no good reason for him not to sign the tender on Friday or shortly after.

Butler does not sound stupid enough to play the holdout game. Let's hope that he and the Patriots work something out.

Butler may not be asking as much as many think. His agent may be the issue here. He has earned a good long term contract offer. I have not seen anything about the Patriots offer as of yet. I do know that BB likes the guy and Kraft has already spoken about wanting to keep him. I just don't buy into most of the media hype till I see something happening. Right now there doesn't seem to be anything.
I agree on both. Didn't MB recently fire his agent?

I just wish Blount would quit dicking around and sign his contract.

If the Pats trade Jimmy for the #12, it'll be part of a 3-way deal with Seattle to bring Sherman here, the 12 to Seattle and Jimmy to Cleveland.

I hope he signs too. Seems silly at this point given no team is offering him more than the Pats and he likes it here. It has been over a month now that he has been a FA.
